    The ship MV MUTSU was inspected in Bangkok, Thailand on May 5, 2023. Two deficiencies were found - one crew member did not understand lifeboat and liferaft instructions, and a toilet on the boat deck was very dirty. To correct the deficiencies, the crew received training on lifeboats and liferafts, and the engine crew replaced a defective valve and cleaned the toilet. The deficiencies occurred due to human error from a crew member's lack of familiarity with emergency equipment and another crew's failure to properly clean and maintain the toilet. To prevent recurrence, emergency drills will include refresher training and the schedule for cleaning and checking toilets will be followed.
