Focus Skill Use appropriate tools on measuring circumference/perimeter of a

circle
Subject Integration Arts, EPP
Values Accuracy
IV. Procedures
A. Preliminary
1. Daily Routine  Prayer
 Checking of Attendance
 Imposing of Rules
2. Drill Activity: Label the Parts!

The teacher will show a circle.

The teacher will call a random student to answer what is the
arrow referring to the part of a circle.
Answers:

1. Diameter
2. Radius

3. Review Activity: Match up!

Directions: Match the polygon to solve for the perimeter.

B. Establishing the purpose of

the lesson: Objectives:
1. Introduction (Cite the  Measures circumference of a circle using appropriate
Objectives of the lesson) tools
2. Motivation
Play the song about circles.

Ask the following:

1. What is the song all about?

2. What do you think is the relation of the song in our new
topic?
C. Presenting examples
instances of the new lesson
1. Activity/ Engagement Activity: Q&A- Problem Solving

How many of you have a garden at home? How can you take
care of your garden?

Present the problem to the class.

A circular garden with a diameter of 5 meters will be surrounded

with a Sunflower plant at 0.5 meters apart. Around how many
Sunflowers plant will be needed?

 What are the given facts in the problem?

 What is asked in the problem?
 What operations are needed to solve the problem?
 How will you solve the problem?
2. Analysis/Modelling Activity: Group Activity- Presentation
Group the class into three teams. The tasks of the pupils are to
help each other solve the problem. Give them time to perform
the tasks.
After all groups have finished, ask them to post their output on
the board and let them discuss the solutions.
Criteria

Developing Mastery Activity: Pair Share

Instructions: Solve for the circumference:

1. The diameter of a circle is 4m. What is its circumference?

2. The circumference of a circle is 75.36cm. How long is its
radius?
3. Find the circumference of the circle whose radius is 2 dm?

3. Abstraction Discussion

Show the class the different parts of a circle.

Review the answer

from the previous activity.

To find the circumference or the perimeter of a circle, we are

going to use the formula:
𝐶=𝜋𝑑
The value of pi is 3. 14
𝐶=𝜋𝑑
C= 3.14 x 5m
C= 15.7m

Divide the circumference by 0.5 meters apart

Number of sunflowers needed = 15.7÷0.5𝑚
= 31.4
Therefore, there are 31 Sunflower needed around the circular
garden.

Introduce the different formula in finding the circumference of a

circle, diameter of a circle, and finding the radius of a circle.

To Solve for the Circumference of a Circle

𝑪= 𝝅𝒅
We are going to use this formula if a diameter is given

𝑪= 𝝅𝒓
We are going to use this formula if a radius is given

To Solve for the Diameter of a Circle

𝑫=𝟐𝒓
We are going to use this formula if a radius is given

𝑫=𝒄/𝝅
We are going to use this formula if a circumference is given

To Solve for the Radius of a Circle

𝑹=𝒅/𝟐
We are going to use this formula if a diameter is given

𝑹= (𝒄÷𝝅)/𝟐
We are going to use this formula if a circumference is given
4. Application/Fixing
Directions:

Find the circumference of each circle with the given dimensions.

1. r = 9.4 cm

2. r = 7.6 m

3. d = 10.5 cm

4. d = 12.45 cm

5. r = 4.8 m

D. Generalization Ask the following questions:

 How do we measure circumference of a circle
using appropriate tools?
V. Assessment/Evaluation Directions: Solve for the circumference of the following circles
with the given dimensions.

1. 1. d = 27 cm
2. 2. d = 4.7 cm
3. 3. r = 36 mm
4. 4. r = 16 m
5. r = 6.8 dm

VI. Assignment Problem Solving

Directions: Read and solve the problem

A circular garden has a diameter of 3.8m. How many meters of

fencing materials are needed to enclose the garden?
VII. Remarks
VIII. Reflection

require remediation)

E. Alin sa mga istrateheyang pagtuturo

ang nakatulong ng lubos? Paano ito
nakatulong? (Which of my teaching
strategies worked well? Why did
this work?)
