2023 Perth Open

Tournament Details
Venue: EZONE Building, University of Western Australia, Crawley Campus
(Free parking is available close by, along Fairway, near the corner of Edward St)
Format: Swiss (Dutch variant), with 6 rounds, ACF and FIDE rated. Vega software (with the JaVaFo
engine) will be used for pairings. FIDE Laws of Chess apply.
In the event of ties, prize amounts will be shared between the tied players.

Time Control: 60 minutes initial time, with 30 seconds increment per move starting from move 1.
Playing Times: Saturday 11th February Sunday 12th February
Doors open: 8:30am Round 4: 9:00am
Round 1: 9:30am Round 5: 12:00 noon
Round 2: 12:30pm Round 6: 3:00pm
Round 3: 3:30pm Presentations: 6:00pm
Closing Date: Late entries may be accepted until 9:00am on Saturday 12th February.
Entry Fee: Entries received on or before 9/2/2022: $70 Entries received after 9/2/2022: $90
Players must be current members of the CAWA. CAWA Membership, valid until the end
of 2023, may be purchased for $30 (Standard) or $20 (Junior / Concession).
Default Time: The default time for each round will be 30 minutes after the start time.
Half-Point Byes: A player may request a maximum of one half-point bye, for rounds 1 – 4 only. Written notice
of intent to take a half-point bye must be given prior to the start of the preceding round.
Recording Moves: Players must record their moves and those of their opponent, using the scoresheets provided.
Mobile Phone Rule: The tournament will be played in accordance with the CAWA Phone Policy. During games,
possession of communication devices and other electronic devices is strictly forbidden. While
a player’s games are in progress, all such devices that he/she has brought to the venue must
be completely switched off and stored either in a separate bag, or under his/her table.
Spectators are not permitted to use mobile phones while in the playing hall.
