1. THE PROJECT
2. CLIENT
1. THE SITE
- Do not use the site for any purpose other than carrying out the Works.
- The site is used by the ranges and arrangements with the ranges must be
agreed before commencing works.
The contractor must ascertain for himself any information he may require to ensure
the safety of all persons and the work.
1. GOOD PRACTICE
Where and to the extent that materials, products and workmanship are not fully
detailed or specified they are to be:
- Of a standard appropriate to the Works and function stated in or
reasonably to be inferred from the project documents, and
- In accordance with relevant good building practice.
- Handle, store, prepare and use or fix each product in accordance with its
manufacturer's current printed or written recommendations. Inform
Engineer if these conflicts with any other specified requirement. Submit
copies when requested.
- The tender will be deemed to be based on the products specified and
recommendations on their use given in the manufacturers' literature
current at the date of tender.
Check all documentation and the products themselves to ensure compliance with the
project documents. Where different types of any product are specified, check to
ensure that the correct type is being used in each location. In particular, check that:
- The sources, types, qualities, finishes and colours are correct, and match
any approved samples.
- All accessories and fixings which should be supplied with the products
have been supplied.
- Sizes are correct. Where tolerances are critical, measure a sufficient
quantity to ensure compliance.
- The delivered quantities are correct, to ensure that shortages do not cause
delays in the work.
- The products are clean, undamaged and in good condition.
- Products which have a limited shelf life are not out of date.
Provide all trades with necessary details of related types of work. Before starting
each type of work, ensure that:
- Previous work is appropriately complete, in accordance with the project
documents, to a suitable standard and in a suitable condition to receive
the new work.
- All necessary preparatory work has been carried out, including provision
for services, openings, supports, fixings, damp proofing, priming and
sealing.
- The environmental conditions are suitable, particularly that the building is
suitably weathertight.
- Operatives must be appropriately skilled and experienced for the type and
quality of work.
- Take all necessary precautions to prevent damage to the work from frost,
rain and other hazards.
- Inspect components and products carefully before fixing or using and
reject any which are defective.
- Fix or lay securely, accurately and in alignment.
- Where not specified otherwise, select fixing and jointing methods and
types, sizes and spacings of fastenings in compliance with section Z20.
- Provide suitable packings at screwed and bolted fixings to take up
tolerances and prevent distortion.
- Do not overtighten.
- Adjust location and fixing of components and products so that joints which
are open to view are even and regular.
- Ensure that all moving parts operate properly and freely. Do not cut, grind
or plane prefinished components and products to remedy binding or poor
fit without approval.
2.1. TOLERANCES
3. SERVICES GENERALLY
- Any work carried out to or which affects new or existing services must be
in accordance with the Bye Laws or Regulations of the relevant Statutory
Authority.
- They must have final tests and commissioning carried out so that they are
in full working order at Completion.
The below ground storm drainage system must be in place and operating while the
buildings will be constructed. Filter drain and drainage mat system below buildings
must be put in operation as soon as the raft of each building will be completed.
A34 SECURITY/SAFETY/PROTECTION
1. GENERALLY
- Develop and submit the Outline Construction Phase Health and Safety
Plan as described in the contract.
1.2. SECURITY
- Adequately safeguard the site, the Works, products, materials, plant, and any
existing buildings affected by the Works from damage and theft. Take all
reasonable precautions to prevent unauthorised access to the site, the Works
and adjoining property.
2.1. EXPLOSIVES
- Do not use.
2.2. POLLUTION
- Take all reasonable precautions to prevent pollution of the site, the Works
and the general environment including streams and waterways. If pollution
occurs, inform the appropriate Authorities and the Engineer without delay and
provide them with all relevant information.
2.4. WASTE:
- Remove rubbish, debris, surplus material and spoil regularly and keep the site
and Works clean and tidy.
- Remove all rubbish, dirt and residues from voids and cavities in the
construction before closing in.
- Ensure that unwanted non-hazardous material, spoil and rubbish is disposed
of at a tip approved by a Waste Regulation Authority.
- Remove all surplus hazardous materials and their containers regularly for
disposal off site in a safe and competent manner as approved by a Waste
Regulation Authority and in accordance with relevant regulations.
- Retain waste transfer documentation on site.
- Adequately protect all types of work and all parts of the Works, including work
carried out by others, throughout the Contract. Wherever work is of an
especially vulnerable nature or is exposed to abnormal risks provide special
protection to ensure that damage does not occur.
- Notify all service authorities and/or adjacent owners of the proposed works
not less than one week before commencing site operations.
- Before starting work check positions of existing mains/ services. Where
positions are not shown on drawings obtain relevant details from service
authorities or other owners.
- Observe service authority's recommendations for work adjacent to existing
services.
- Adequately protect, and prevent damage to all services. Do not interfere with
their operation without consent of the service authorities or other owners.
- If any damage to services results from the execution of the Works, notify
Engineer and appropriate service authority without delay. Make arrangements
for the work to be made good without delay to the satisfaction of the service
authority or other owner as appropriate. Any measures taken by the Engineer
to deal with an emergency will not affect the extent of the Contractor's liability.
- Replace any marker tapes or protective covers disturbed during site
operations to the service authority's recommendations.
- Adequately maintain roads and footpaths within and adjacent to the site and
keep clear of mud and debris. Any damage to roads and footpaths caused by
site traffic or otherwise consequent upon the Works must be made good to
the satisfaction of the Local Authority or other owner. Bear any costs arising.
A36 FACILITIES/TEMPORARY
WORK/SERVICES
1. GENERALLY
1.1. LOCATIONS
- Inform Engineer of the intended sitting of all spoil heaps, temporary works and
services.
1.2. MAINTAIN
- Maintain, alter, adapt and move temporary works and services as necessary.
Remove when no longer required and make good.
- The Contractor shall have the obligation to erect two signboards to a design
and in colours approved by the Engineer stating the name and details of the
project and the completion date, etc . The signboard shall be erected in a
clearly visible position approved by the Engineer. The Contractor shall allow
for all costs associated with the erection, protection and fixing of the
Consultants and Contractor's sign boards, any necessary relocations,
maintenance and removal at the completion of the Works.
2.1. LIGHTING
- During finishing work and inspection provide temporary lighting, the intensity
and direction of which closely resembles that provided by the permanent
installation.
1. GENERAL PARTICULARS
Particulars of the project as a whole are given elsewhere in the tender documents.
2. TENDERING/SUBLETTING/SUPPLY
2.1. SCOPE
A statement must be submitted with the tender describing any significant and
unavoidable hazards which may arise as a result of carrying out the work and the
measures proposed to safeguard the health and safety of operatives and of any
person who may be affected by the work.
2.4. MANUFACTURERS/SUPPLIERS
3.1. DEFINITIONS
The meaning of terms, derived terms and synonyms used in the specification is as
defined below or in the appropriate British Standard or British Standard glossary.
3.2. IN WRITING
When required to notify, inform, instruct, agree, confirm, obtain information, obtain
approval or obtain instructions do so in writing.
3.3. APPROVAL
Approval (and words derived there from) means the approval in writing of the
Engineer unless specified otherwise.
3.4. PRODUCTS
Where any product is specified to comply with a Cyprus Standard for which there is
no equivalent European Standard it may be substituted by a product complying with
a grade or category within a national standard of another Member State of the
European Community or an international standard specifying equivalent
requirements and assurances in respect of material, safety, reliability, function,
compatibility with adjacent construction, availability of compatible accessories and,
where relevant, appearance. In advance of ordering notify the Engineer of all such
substitutions and, when requested, submit for verification documentary evidence
confirming that the products comply with the specified requirements. Any submitted
foreign language documents must be accompanied by certified translations into
English.
Are to the versions and amendments listed in the relevant Standards Catalogue
3.10. SIZES
Developed from the tender stage method statements and showing the Contractor's
final proposals must be submitted before starting work on site.
Retain copies delivered with components and equipment (failing which, obtain),
register with manufacturer as necessary and hand over to Engineer on or before
Completion.
Where and to the extent that materials, products and workmanship are not fully

or reasonably to be inferred from the project documents, and
- In accordance with good building practice.
- Handle, store, prepare and use or fix each product in accordance with its

Inform Engineer if these conflict with any other specified requirement. Submit
copies to Engineer when requested.
- Obtain confirmation from manufacturers that the products specified and
recommendations on their use have not been changed since that time. Where
such change has occurred, inform Engineer and do not place orders for or
use the affected products without further instructions.
Check all delivery tickets, labels, identification marks and, where appropriate, the
products themselves to ensure that all products comply with the project documents.
Where different types of any product are specified, check to ensure that the correct
type is being used in each location. In particular, check that:
- The sources, types, qualities, finishes and colours are correct, and match any
approved samples.
- All accessories and fixings which should be supplied with the goods have
been supplied.
- Sizes and dimensions are correct. Where tolerances of components are
critical, measure a sufficient quantity to ensure compliance.
- The delivered quantities are correct, to ensure that shortages do not cause
delays in the work.
- The products are clean, undamaged and otherwise in good condition.
- Products which have a limited shelf life are not out of date.
- Protect adequately from rain, damp, frost, sun and other elements as
appropriate. Ensure that products are at a suitable temperature and moisture
content at time of use.
- Ensure that sheds and covers are of ample size, in good weatherproof
condition and well secured.
- Keep different types and grades of products separately and adequately
identified.
- So far as possible keep products in their original wrappings, packings or
containers until immediately before they are used.
- Wherever possible retain protective wrappings after fixing and until shortly
before Completion.
- Ensure that protective measures are fully compatible with and not prejudicial
to the products/materials.
- Operatives must be appropriately skilled and experienced for the type and
quality of work.
- Take all necessary precautions to prevent damage to the work from frost, rain
and other hazards.
- Inspect components and products carefully before fixing or using and reject
any which are defective.
- Fix or lay securely, accurately and in alignment.
- Where not specified otherwise, select fixing and jointing methods and types,
sizes and spacings of fastenings to comply with relevant British Standards.
- Provide suitable, tight packings at screwed and bolted fixing points to take up
tolerances and prevent distortion. Do not overtighten fixings.
- Adjust location and fixing of components and products so that joints which are
to be finished with mortar or sealant or otherwise left open to view are even
and regular.
- Ensure that all moving parts operate properly and freely. Do not cut, grind or
plane prefinished components and products to remedy binding or poor fit
without approval.
7. SAMPLES/APPROVALS
Where a sample of finished work is specified for approval, the requirement for
approval relates to the sample itself (if approval of the finished work as a whole is
required this is specified separately). Obtain approval of the stated characteristic(s)
of the sample before proceeding with the works. Retain approved sample in good,
clean condition on site. Ensure that the relevant characteristic(s) of the works match
the approved characteristic(s) of the sample. Remove samples which are not part of
the finished works when no longer required.
7.3. APPROVALS
Where and to the extent that products or work are specified to be approved or the
Engineer instructs or requires that they are to be approved, the same must be
supplied and executed to comply with all other requirements and in respect of the
stated or implied characteristics either:
- To the express approval of the Engineer or
- To match a sample expressly approved by the Engineer as a standard for the
purpose.
8. ACCURACY
Check the setting out of preparatory work by others against the dimensions shown
on the drawings and record the results on a copy of the drawings. Notify Engineer in
writing of any discrepancies and obtain instructions before proceeding.
9. SUPERVISION/INSPECTION/DEFECTIVE WORK
9.1. CO-OPERATION
9.2. DEFECTS
- Agree dates and times of tests and inspections with Engineer several days in
advance, to enable the Engineer and other affected parties to be present. On
the previous working day to each such test or inspection confirm that the
work or sample in question will be ready or, if not ready, agree a new date
and time.
- Establish and maintain procedures to ensure that the work, including the
work of all contractor’s, comply with SUN-01-G-605-001. Maintain full
records, keep copies on site for inspection by the Engineer, and submit
copies of particular parts of the records on request. The records must include:
• Identification of the element, item, batch or lot including location in the
works.
• The nature and dates of inspections by the Engineer, tests and
approvals.
• The nature and extent of any nonconforming work found.
• Details of any corrective action.

- Remove:
• Disconnect, dismantle as necessary and take out the designated
products or work and associated accessories, fastenings, supports,
linings and bedding materials. Dispose of unwanted materials.
• Excludes taking out and disposing of associated pipework, wiring,
ductwork or other services. Keep for reuse:
Do not damage designated products or work. Clean off bedding
and jointing materials. Make good:
• Execute local remedial work to designated work. Make
secure, sound and neat.
• Excludes redecoration and/ or replacement. Repair:
Execute remedial work to designated products. Make secure,
sound and neat.
• Excludes redecoration and/ or replacement.
- Refix: Fix removed products.
- Replace: Supply and fix new products matching those removed. Execute
work to match original new state of that removed. Ease: Adjust moving parts
of designated products or work to achieve free movement and good fit in open
and closed positions. Match existing: Provide products and work of the same
appearance and features as the original, excluding ageing and weathering.
Make joints between existing and new work as inconspicuous as possible.

1.3.4. MOCK-UPS
- Mock-ups: Contractor to build one mock up wall for each masonry thickness
indicated with the use of all necessary accessories. Locations to be indicated
by the Engineer. (As indicated in the Mock up list for F30).
1.3.5. WARRANTIES
- Store masonry units on elevated platforms in a dry location. If units are not
stored in an enclosed location, cover tops and sides of stacks with waterproof
sheeting, securely tied. If units become wet, do not install until they are dry.
- Store masonry accessories, including metal items, to prevent corrosion and
accumulation of dirt and oil.
- Do not apply uniform floor or roof loads for at least 48 hours and concentrated
loads for at least 3 days after building masonry walls or columns.
- Stain Prevention: Prevent grout, mortar, and soil from staining the face of
masonry to be left exposed or painted. Immediately remove grout, mortar, and
soil that come in contact with such masonry.
- Hot-Weather Requirements: Comply with hot-weather construction
requirements contained in ACI 530.1/ASCE 6/TMS 602.

3. EXECUTION
- Lay out walls in advance for accurate spacing of surface bond patterns with
uniform joint thicknesses and for accurate location of openings, movement-
type joints, returns, and offsets. Avoid using less-than-half-size units,
particularly at corners, jambs, and, where possible, at other locations.
- Stopping and Resuming Work: Stop work by racking back units in each
course from those in course below; do not tooth. When resuming work, clean
masonry surfaces that are to receive mortar, remove loose masonry units and
mortar, and wet brick if required before laying fresh masonry.
- Fill space between steel frames and masonry solidly with mortar unless
otherwise indicated.

1. GENERAL

- Multipurpose Construction Adhesive: Formulation complying with EN
standard that is recommended for indicated use by adhesive manufacturer.

certifying that Installer complies with specified requirements.
- Field quality Control report: Product Test Reports From a qualified
independent testing agency acceptable to Engineer, indicating and
interpreting test results of waterproofing for compliance with requirements,
based on comprehensive testing of current waterproofing formulations.
- Sample Warranty: Before starting waterproofing, copy of waterproofing
manufacturer's and Installer's warranty, stating obligations, remedies,
limitations, and exclusions.
- Show locations and extent of waterproofing and details of substrate joints and
cracks, sheet flashings, penetrations, inside and outside corners, tie-ins with
adjoining waterproofing, and other termination conditions.
• Include layout drawings showing locations of sub-membrane
containment strips and control test drains.
• Include setting drawings showing layout, sizes, sections, profiles, and
joint details of pedestal-supported concrete pavers.
- For each exposed product and for each colour and texture specified, including
the following products:
• 300-by-300-mm square of waterproofing and flashing sheet.
• 300-by-300-mm square of insulation.
• 100-by-100-mm square of drainage panel.

1.1. CROSS-REFERENCE
• The testing laboratory or a certified quality control office shall certify the
consistency of the door assembly production as per the tested
specimen.
• The testing laboratory authorizes the manufacturer to produce the
labels on the conditions listed above.
- Fire Resisting Door Components: all components of fire resisting doors and
assemblies, including but not limited to: door leaves, frames, ironmongery,
hardware, and glazing, shall have the same rating and shall carry identifying
labels of an approved independent testing and inspection agency or
laboratory, confirming their individual fire resistance rating.
• Door leaves and frames shall be labelled and from same manufacturer,
if possible.
• Door Hardware shall be tested and labelled.
- For a door assembly to comply with labelling requirements, each component
must be approved for use with other components.
- Fire rated doors are to be submitted and approved comprising all
components.
• Any deviation from the hardware size indicated on the fire test
certificate should be approved by the testing laboratory.
- Fire Resisting Door Closers: all fire resisting doors shall be fitted with door
closers that automatically close and positively latch the door.
- Fire Resisting Door Enclosures: the space between the top of the fire
resisting door assembly and the structural soffit above shall be closed by a
wall or an appropriate panel with a fire rating equal to or exceeding that of the
door.

indicated for the completed Work:
Build mock-ups for each type of steel doors and frames, and
anchorage system components.
Obtain Engineer's approval of mock-ups before fabricating
custom steel doors and frames.
Demolish and remove mock-ups when directed.
• Wooden Doors: Before installing flush wood doors and frames, build
mock-ups to verify selections made under sample Submittals and to
demonstrate aesthetic effects and qualities of materials and execution.
Build mock-ups to comply with the following requirements, using
materials indicated for the completed Work:

1.3.5. WARRANTIES
All certificates for fire safety will be for the door (as a system) including the frame
and accessories. All Fire proof Doors will include fire and smoke seals
- Metal Doors:
• Door Manufacturer's Warranty: Provide complete warranty in which
Manufacturer, Contractor and Installer are jointly and severally
responsible and agree to repair or replace without limitations, all or any
part of defective doors that do not fulfil quality and performance
requirements or do not comply with tolerances in referenced quality
standard such as, but not limited to:
Structural failures.
Faulty operation of movable parts and hardware.
Deterioration of metals, metal finishes, and other materials
beyond normal weathering.
Warranty shall also include all hardware.
• Warranty shall also include installation and finishing that may be
required due to repair or replacement of defective doors.
Warranty Period: Two years from date of Taking Over.
- Wooden Doors:
• Door Warranty: Provide complete warranty in which Manufacturer,
Contractor and Installer are jointly and severally liable and agree to
repair or replace without limitations, all or any part of defective doors
that fail in materials or workmanship within specified warranty period.
Failures include, but are not limited to, the following:
a. Warping (bow, cup, or twist) more than 6.4 mm in a 1067-
by-2134-mm section.
b. Telegraphing of core construction in face veneers
exceeding 0.25 mm in a 76.2-mm span.
Warranty shall also include installation and finishing that may be
required due to repair or replacement of defective doors.
Warranty shall also include all hardware.
Warranty Period for Hollow-Core Interior Doors: Five years from
date of Taking Over.
- Aluminium Doors:
• Contractor to provide certificates for all aluminium systems. Refer to
L40 for Glazing Specs and warranties – Certificates.
- Aluminium Doors:
Installer Qualifications: An installer acceptable to aluminium doors
manufacturer for installation of units required for this Project.
A qualified firm specializing in performing the work of this
Section with minimum three years documented experience and
that is approved, authorized, or licensed by the product
manufacturer to install his product and that is eligible to receive
manufacturer's warranty. Include project names and addresses,
names and addresses of Engineers and Employers, and other
information specified
Installer's responsibilities include providing engineering services
needed to assume engineering responsibility.
Engineering Responsibility: Preparation of data for aluminium doors,
including Shop Drawings, based on testing and engineering analysis of
manufacturer's standard units in assemblies similar to those indicated
for this Project.
Manufacturer Qualifications: A firm experienced in manufacturing
items specified in this section similar to those indicated for this Project
and with a record of successful in-service performance, as well as
sufficient production capacity to manufacture required units.
Manufacturer shall be capable of fabricating aluminium doors that meet
or exceed performance requirements indicated and of documenting this
performance by inclusion in lists and by labels, test reports, and
calculations
Source Limitations: Obtain aluminium doors through one source from
a single manufacturer.
Product Options: Drawings indicate size, profiles, and dimensional
requirements of aluminium doors and are based on the specific system
indicated. Refer to Division 1 Section "Product Requirements." Do not
modify size and dimensional requirements.
Do not modify intended aesthetic effects, as judged solely by Engineer,
except with Engineer's approval. If modifications are proposed, submit
comprehensive explanatory data to Engineer for review.
- Metal Doors:
Field Measurements: Verify actual dimensions of openings by field
measurements before fabrication.
Coordination: Coordinate installation of anchorages for hollow metal
frames. Furnish setting drawings, templates, and directions for
installing anchorages, including sleeves, concrete inserts, anchor bolts,
and items with integral anchors. Deliver such items to Project site in
time for installation.
- Wooden Doors:
Field Measurements: Verify actual dimensions of openings by field
measurements before fabrication.
Environmental Limitations: Do not deliver or install doors until
spaces are enclosed and weathertight, wet work in spaces is complete
and dry, and HVAC system is operating and maintaining temperature
between 16 and 32 deg C and relative humidity between 17 and 50
percent during remainder of construction period.
- Aluminium Doors:
Field Measurements: Verify actual dimensions of openings by field
measurements before fabrication.
Environmental Limitations: According to the manufacturer’s written
instructions.
2. PRODUCTS
- Fire Doors: Fire resisting doors, as indicated on the Drawings, satisfying the
requirements of ASTM E 2074 and NFPA 80; flush fitting steel construction
with welded internal frame, inner and outer skins galvanized steel sheets and
infill of approved thermal insulating material complete with frame, vision panel,
fire resisting hardware, and all necessary accessories and fixings. Raised
thresholds are not permitted.
• Provide intumescent strips either on door edges or on the door frame
where required by the relevant codes and standards.
• Doors are to be self-closing and are to be released automatically from
hold-open position in case of fire by electromagnetic devices
connected to fire alarm system.
• All single doors and active leaves of pairs of doors shall be provided
with an active latch bolt that cannot be held in a retracted position as
specified in the individual manufacturer's published listings.
• Where there is an astragal or projecting latch bolt that prevents the
inactive door from closing and latching before the active door closes
and latches, a coordinating device shall be used.
2.1.2. ACCESSORIES
- Fire Doors: Fire resisting doors, as indicated on the schedules, satisfying the
requirements of CYS EN1125 and CYS EN179 and specification stated. All
doors to be approved by the Architect.

- Examination:
• Protection of Components: Do not deliver to site components which
cannot be put immediately into suitable clean, dry, floored and covered
storage. Stack near vertical on level bearers, separated with spacers to
prevent damage by and to projecting ironmongery, beads, etc.
• Door Installation:
Install doors into prepared openings, maintaining a maximum
gap of 4 mm between the frame edge and the surrounding
construction.
Install doors without twist or diagonal racking.
Seal the gap with polyurethane sealant

When not predrilled or specified otherwise, position fixings not
more than 250 mm from each end of jamb, adjacent to each
hanging point of opening lights, and at maximum 600 mm
centres.
Ironmongery: Assemble and fix carefully and accurately using fasteners with
matching finish supplied by ironmongery manufacturer. Prevent damage to
ironmongery and adjacent surfaces. At completion check, adjust and lubricate as
necessary to ensure correct functioning.

- Execution:
• Start floor screed application in presence of manufacturer's technical
representative.
• Deferred Floor Screed: Within 72 hours of placing base slabs, mix and
scrub bonding slurry into dampened concrete to a thickness of 1.6 to 3
mm, without puddling. Place floor screed while slurry is still tacky.
• Place concrete floor screed continuously in a single layer, tamping and
consolidating to achieve tight contact with bonding surface. Do not
permit cold joints or seams to develop within pour strip.
• Screed surface with a straightedge and strike off to correct elevations.
• Begin initial floating using bull floats to form a uniform and open-
textured surface plane free of humps or hollows.
• Finishing: Consolidate surface with power-driven floats as soon as
concrete floor screed can support equipment and operator. Re-
straighten, cut down high spots, and fill low spots. Repeat float passes
and re-straightening until concrete floor screed surface has a uniform,
smooth, granular texture.
• Construction Joints: Construct joints true to line with faces
perpendicular to surface plane of concrete floor screed, at locations
indicated or as approved by Engineer.
- General: Protect freshly placed concrete floor screed from premature drying
and excessive cold or hot temperatures.
- Evaporation Retarder: Apply evaporation retarder to concrete floor screed
surfaces in hot, dry, or windy conditions before and during finishing
operations. Apply according to manufacturer's written instructions after
placing, screeding, and bull floating or darbying floor screed, but before float
finishing.
- Begin curing immediately after finishing concrete floor screed. Cure by one or
a combination of the following methods, according to concrete floor screed
manufacturer's written instructions:
1. Moisture Curing: Keep surfaces continuously moist for not less than 7
days with water or absorptive cover, water saturated and kept
continuously wet. Cover screed surfaces and edges with 300-mm lap
over adjacent absorptive covers.
2. Moisture-Retaining-Cover Curing: Cover concrete surfaces with
moisture-retaining cover for curing concrete, placed in widest
practicable width, with sides and ends lapped at least 300 mm, and
sealed by waterproof tape or adhesive. Cure for not less than seven
days. Immediately repair any holes or tears during curing period using
cover material and waterproof tape.
- Curing Compound: Apply uniformly in two coats in continuous operations by
power spray or roller according to manufacturer's written instructions. Recoat
areas subjected to heavy rainfall within three hours after initial application.
Maintain continuity of coating and repair damage during curing period.

accordance to CYS 14:1986.
- The percentage passing through the sieve of 75 micrometres should not
exceed 3% for weight of natural sand and 8% for weight of crushed sand.

3. EXECUTION
- Examination:
• Confirm all mechanical and electrical installations are completed, with

- Preparation:
• Protect adjacent work from soiling, spattering, moisture deterioration,
and other harmful effects caused by plastering.
• Remove substances that could impair plaster adhesion.
• Remove all substrates of projections and substances detrimental to
application.
• Where concrete surfaces are to receive plaster coating do as follow:
Apply first a layer of quartz primer as per manufacturer’s written
instructions.
Verify that quartx primer is completely dry.
Apply a layer of Eco-75 as per manufacturer’s written
instructions.
•Proceed with application only after Eco-75 is completelt set and harden
(if and where is applied).
- General Execution:
• All pipes mounted on walls will be completely covered with fiberglass
mesh and cement grout (1:3).
• All pipes mounted on floors will be completely covered with cement
grout (1:3).
- Repairs: Repair or replace work to eliminate, dents, dry outs, efflorescence,
sweat outs, and similar defects and where bond to substrate has failed.
- Examination:
• Examine areas and substrates, with Installer present, and structural
framing, for compliance with requirements and other conditions
affecting performance of the Work.
• Proceed with installation only after unsatisfactory conditions have been
corrected.
- Preparation:
• Protect adjacent work from soiling, spattering, moisture deterioration,
and other harmful effects caused by plastering.
• Remove substances that could impair plaster adhesion.
• Remove all substrates of projections and substances detrimental to
application.
• All pipes mounted on walls will be completely covered with cement
grout (1:3) before any coating begin.
• Plastering will begin after the masonry is completely dry and not earlier
than 21 days after the masonry has been completed.
• Proceed with application only after the surfaces and the plaster guides
have been inspected and approved by the Engineer.
•Where concrete surfaces are to receive plaster coating do as follow:
Apply first a layer of quartz primer as per manufacturer’s written
instructions.
Verify that quartx primer is completely dry.
Apply a layer of Eco-75 as per manufacturer’s written
instructions.

• Place mesh 200mm along the joint of brick wall and concrete.
• All concrete elements will received a layer of one (1) part cement, two
(2) part sand (1:2), watery.
• Protect all raw plaster from direct exposure to the sun.
- Repairs: Repair or replace work to eliminate cracks, dents, blisters, buckles,
crazing and check cracking, dry outs, efflorescence, sweat outs, and similar
defects and where bond to substrate has failed.
- Examination:
• Examine areas in the present of the engineer.
• Satisfactory conditions will be confirmed according to manufacturer’s
written instruction.
• Proceed with installation only after unsatisfactory conditions have been
corrected.

• Verify that concrete substrates for tile floors installed with bonded
mortar bed comply with surface finish requirements in CYS 5385-
3:2014 for installations indicated.
• Verify that surfaces that received a steel trowel finish have been
mechanically scarified.
• Verify that protrusions, bumps, and ridges have been removed by
sanding or grinding.
• Verify that installation of grounds, anchors, recessed frames, electrical
and mechanical units of work, and similar items located in or behind tile
has been completed.
• Proceed with installation only after unsatisfactory conditions have been
corrected. Fill cracks, holes, and depressions in concrete substrates for
tile floors installed with adhesives or thin-set mortar with trowelable
levelling and patching compound specifically recommended by tile-
setting material manufacturer.
•Blending: For tile exhibiting colour variations, verify that tile has been
factory blended and packaged so tile units taken from one package
show same range of colours as those taken from other packages and
match approved Samples. If not factory blended, either return to
manufacturer or blend tiles at Project site before installing.
- Execution:
• Contractor to follow Interior Designer’s and Architect’s tiling layout.
• All installation materials need to comply with EN 12004:2001
• Extend tile work into recesses and under or behind equipment and fixtures
to form complete covering without interruptions unless otherwise indicated.
Terminate work neatly at obstructions, edges, and corners without
disrupting pattern or joint alignments.
• Accurately form intersections and returns. Perform cutting and drilling of
tile without marring visible surfaces. Carefully grind cut edges of tile
abutting trim, finish, or built-in items for straight aligned joints. Fit tile
closely to electrical outlets, piping, fixtures, and other penetrations so
plates, collars, or covers overlap tile.
• Provide manufacturer's standard trim shapes where necessary to eliminate
exposed tile edges.
• Jointing Pattern: Lay tile in grid pattern unless otherwise indicated. Lay
out tile work and centre tile fields in both directions in each space or on
each wall area. Lay out tile work to minimize the use of pieces that are
less than half of a tile. Provide uniform joint widths unless otherwise
indicated.

discarded materials from Project site.
- After completing paint application, clean spattered surfaces. Remove
spattered paints by washing, scraping, or other methods. Do not scratch or
damage adjacent finished surfaces.
- Protect work of other trades against damage from paint application. Correct
damage to work of other trades by cleaning, repairing, replacing, and
refinishing, as approved by Engineer, and leave in an undamaged condition.
- At completion of construction activities of other trades, touch up and restore
damaged or defaced painted surfaces.
