    After the oral defence

    Depository copies of your thesis and certificate of the granting of a doctoral degree:

    After the oral defence, the dissertation which was circulated among the examination board will be returned
    to you for any necessary correction.
    Please submit to the University Library, Publikationsdienste Dissertationen, within 12 months after
    your defence following documents by post or in person:

    • this form signed by your internal supervisor (member of the Faculty)


    • 6 corrected and bound copies of your thesis signed by you (DIN A4 or DIN A5)
    • an upload of your electronic thesis (https://edoc.ub.uni-muenchen.de/)
    • additionally fill out, sign and submit the following official form in two copies:

    moreover if you have a blocking note (form in two copies):

    The doctoral degree certificate issuing (process time 4 – 8 weeks):

    Due to the current pandemic situation the degree will be only sent by registered mail against
    reimbursement of costs.

    After having submitted all of the above, you may ask the Promotions- und Habilitationsbüro of the Faculty
    of Chemistry and Pharmacy via mail (s. above) when your degree certificate will be available for collection.
    PhDs or authorized representatives (only with original signed authorization and identity card of both PhD (in
    copy) and representative person) may collect the certificates.
    Only after having received your final degree certificate (in German and English)
    you are legally allowed to bear the title “Dr. rer. nat.”.
