OVERVIEW
India has assumed the G20 Presidency
with effect from 1st December 2022 for a
year up to 30th November 2023.

India's G20 Presidency’s theme of


'Vasudhaiv Kutumbakam' - One Earth,
One Family, One Future' stresses upon the
need for an inclusive, ambitious, decisive,
and action-oriented approach towards
our common future in which women-led
development is a key aspect.

In the G20 framework, the G20 Alliance for the


Empowerment and Progression of Women's
Economic Representation (G20 EMPOWER) which
was launched during the G20 Osaka Summit in 2019,
aims to accelerate women's leadership and
empowerment in the private sector by leveraging its
unique alliance among business leaders and
governments across G20 countries.

Under India G-20 Presidency, EMPOWER 2023 will be


taking forward the cause of women's empowerment
and women-led development where issues of young
women in education, science and STEM, digital
skilling, women's co-operative's in the farm sector,
women in local governance and as grassroots
functionaries involved in financial inclusion, health,
nutrition and water management, entrepreneurship
and leadership will be focused upon.
