Sept/Oct/Nov Board room highlights

Garden: Parent Lesley Sachs has taken over as lead on the Pine View Garden. A vision statement was
created. It is beautiful up and running and open to all grades to sign up to work on it.

The Local Scripps Spelling Bee was hosted at Pine View School in December.

Fall events that happened on campus: Honoring of Veterans Day, Fall Parade, Holocaust week and Miss
Pine View. The Pine Views Daffodil project was completed.

Tours have begun in the new building. Planning for VIP Open House Ribbon cutting and Grand Opening
event is being planned.

Dr. Covert has a committee set for naming the Archives room in the new building after former teacher
Pat Johnston. They have not met as of yet. He will keep PVA updated.

Past staff member Coach Donovan passed away. Dr. Covert said there is a scholarship that was formed
in her honor. A paver will be dedicated to Coach Donovan and Pat Johnston

The old Batman Bench will be restored and back on campus by Tandem Construction

Funding requests:
1. Third Grade Showcase - Mrs. William’s request of $5600 was funded.
2. Speech and Debate club - Mr. Foelich’s request of $15k was funded. Their club now includes
Middle School students and has grown from 34 members to 121 members. They are hiring a
professional speech coach
3. Reflex license renewal – Mr. Sprinkle’s request of $3295 was funded
4. College Career Counselor position- Dr. Covert’s request of $38,341 was funded. This is a portion
of the three-year salary.
5. Senior Breakfast – Mrs. Wiley’s request of $1000 was funded.

First round of “DNA Paver” sales have been a great success. Old engraved pavers that were removed
from construction will be relocated around the media center.

Teachers of the Year: Elem- Mrs. Stewart Middle- Ms. Myers High- Mr. Pauling

New staff at PV- Officer Gene Williams and 4th Grade Maddie Elliot

Pine View campus will continue to be considered a public park so the track and recreation areas will be
open on non-school hours

Andrea Berke was elected as a new PVA board member filling a vacancy, welcome.

Governance committee will be working on By-Law changes/updates.

SDMT Representatives this year from PVA will be Puja (Elementary), Gretchen (Middle) and David (High).
Pine View has excelled in Volunteer scholarships for money earned in Sarasota County. 22 merit semi-
finalists in running for full ride scholarships

Pine View Fair will be moved to Spring as there may be too many restrictions if scheduled prior.

The Pinnacle committee has selected the Circus Conservatory as a venue. The mindset is for a larger
attended event. Date scheduled for Feb 22 nd.

Garden for Ethan Issacs (elementary student that passed away last school year). Marie Rosander is
planning a rock and mineral garden on campus that will be dedicated in his honor.
