Hand washing is an essential personal care skill for one to learn and be able to

perform independently. Hand washing is done daily and can vary more than once daily. I

did the steps the way I did so that my student didn’t get confused about any actions or

where to go between the steps. The steps are detailed so the student knows what to do,

how long to do it, and where. With more practice with these detailed steps, the student

can eventually perform the activities independently. This task analysis will improve the

student’s motor skills and independent work performance.
