Bryan Arnold Barnswell, 64, of Victoria, BC, passed away on June 24, 2023, after a myocardial infraction.

Bryan was born on July 14, 1959, to Winifred and Arnold Barnswell in Victoria, BC. After Bryan graduated
from High School in 1978, he went on to travel across Canada, living in different provinces, as he tried to
find his way in life. Bryan returned to British Columbia, where he met his previous wife, and mother of
his children, Natasha and Justin Barnswell, and to study culinary arts at Vancouver Community College,
in the early 1990’s.

Bryan worked in the culinary field and in data analysis throughout the 90’s and early 2000’s, before he
had to leave work as his health began to deteriorate and diabetic retinopathy taking his vision.

In 2017, Bryan met Debbie in a local choir for the blind, where their love story began. Bryan and Debbie
got married in the spring of 2019 and were featured in the Victoria news for the Sawatsky Sign-Off.

Bryan spent his free time singing in the choir for the visually impaired, taking drumming circle classes,
dragon boat racing, and playing video games on his specially modified computer screen.

Bryan was predeceased by both of his parents. He is survived by his wife, Debbie, his children, Natasha
(Sam) and Justin, as well as his brothers, Wayne (Adele), Doug, David (Denise) and Ian (Renee), as well as
his nephews.

Services will be held at Luther Court on July 14, 2023, at 9:30am, in the grand lounge. Bryan will be
cremated and laid to rest alongside his mother and father at Hatley Cemetary in Victoria.
