Unlocking the Hydrogen Powerhouse in North America

Post Event Report

worldhydrogennorthamerica.com
Organised by
World Hydrogen Leaders #WHNA23 #WHL
Foreword
Growing twofold in 2023, World Hydrogen North America has become the leading hydrogen event for the region. On behalf of World
Hydrogen Leaders, I would like to say a special thank you to all our speakers, sponsors, exhibitors, and attendees for making this year such
an exciting and fruitful congress. It was incredible to see the strides the hydrogen industry has taken over the past year as 800 senior leaders
across the entire hydrogen value chain gathered in Houston.

The Intelligence Day provided a chance to deep dive into specific topics through extended interactive masterclasses. This was followed by
a powerful speech from General Wesley Clark at the welcome drinks. The two main days of the conference and exhibition offered the industry
an opportunity to participate in lively debates, hear case study presentations and meet new business partners during dedicated networking
sessions. The Women+ in Hydrogen Networking Breakfast took place on the final day, bringing together 70+ champions for women to
participate in an insightful morning discussion.

There is no doubt that the North American market is the one to watch with promising potential in both Canada and USA. We will be following
the market closely as regulations develop, more projects get closer to FID and the offtake markets start to evolve. We look forward to seeing
you back in Houston (if not before!) from May 21-23 2024.

World Hydrogen North America 2023 in the press

At World Hydrogen North America 2023 in Houston, Texas, former Alberta, Canada mayor and current chair of the
Edmonton Region Hydrogen Hub, Alanna Hnatiw, delivered a presentation about Alberta’s potential as a hydrogen
(H2) hub. According to Hnatiw, Canada has an established pipeline network, leveraging the liquified natural gas (LNG)
industry, which positions them as an exporter. She also claimed that Canada is recognized as a global leader in the H2
fuel cell sector and as a hub for technical expertise.

ExxonMobil is “testing the market” for opportunities in “green” hydrogen

but sees “blue” hydrogen derived from natural gas as the most economic
way to move the nascent clean hydrogen sector forward.

“We are definitely looking at green,” Christina Nordstrom, hydrogen

business development executive for Exxon’s low-carbon solutions
unit, told the World Hydrogen North America conference in Houston on
Tuesday, referring to fuel that is typically produced through electrolysis.

She said Exxon is “color agnostic” and is looking at hydrogen production

“technologies and projects across the spectrum.”
