 - PURPOSE
The aim of this method statement is to execute the scope of work, provide and maintain an
effective quality control in compliance with standards and good practices at all stages/
activities for Marble work for villa .

 - SCOPE

;This Method of Statement applies to the following

1. Marble Flooring
2. Marble Stair Treads and Risers
3. Marble Bases
4. Marble Threshold

 - RESPONSIBILITY

A full and detailed description of roles and responsibilities of all staff is included within
the project quality plan . for the works as covered this method statement , the following
personnel have specific duties

Technical Officer Engineer: Specific responsibilities include:

- Responsible for ensuring that the various submitting are timely undertaken (materials,
method statements, workshop drawings, subcontractor’s issues, technical issues).
- Responsible for quotations as required (materials, subcontractors).

- Responsible for ensuring RFI’s are timely undertaken on behalf of contractor.

- Responsible for the distribution of documents within contractor site personnel.

Site Engineer(s). Specific responsibilities include:

- Ensuring that the project is managed in a safe manner and meets the requirements
Of the project documentation
- Ensuring that subcontractors and suppliers achieve the on-site required

- Assisting in the production of any health, safety, and environmental documents.

QA/QC Site Representative(s). Specific responsibilities include:

- Carrying out phased inspections as required.
- Ensuring that completed works are offered for inspection/approval to external

companies within specific dates/programmers.

- Preparation of the ITP.
- Ensuring that all required tests are performed and follow appropriate
specifications etc.
- Reviewing and ensuring that all shop drawings and material submitting are
presented to the appropriate bodies with adequate supporting information.
-Ensuring that materials are inspected when delivered to ensure they comply with the
various specifications

-Maintaining a record of all QA/QC activities on site.

- Controlling and ensuring all measuring and test equipment on site is properly calibrated.

-Controlling all non-conforming products or
workmanship and implementing the required preventive actions.
-Ensuring that corrective and preventive actions are taken when required.

-Ensuring that the required testing is undertaken by approved independent laboratories,

and that all test results are reviewed.

-Undertake audits to ensure conformance to agreed Standards, Legislation, and project

specific requirements.
-Ensuring that staffs are aware of their responsibilities in respect of quality issues.

-Assisting and reporting to the QA/QC Manager as required.

Supervisor(s). Specific responsibilities include:

-To ensure that all operatives and appropriate subcontractors have been briefed as to the
content of the method statement and the works.

-To adequately control the works as required.

-To ensure the works are undertaken in a safe manner.

- To ensure all operatives are adequately training in their respective works.

-Reporting any UN-safe practices on site to the site team.

Subcontractors. Specific responsibilities include:

 - MANPOWER
The Civil Supervisor shall control the overall activities at site and he will be directly
reporting to the Site Superintendent. The basic manpower under him shall consist
but not limited to the following:
 Lead Pre-Commissioning Engineer
 Testing Engineer
 Civil Lead Man
 Senior Technicians
 Technician
 Vendor Represented (if need)
 QC Engineer / Inspector
 Safety Engineer
 Company Representative

-Approved Cement mortar
-Sand bed.

 - METHODS / PROCEDURES

Preparations

1-Sand beds under floor tiles spread and compact it manually to obtain
uniform depth and distribution. Remove stones and foreign materials.
Lightly rinse with water.

2- Clean stone surfaces that have been become dirty or stained by

removing soil, stains and foreign materials before setting. Clean stone
thoroughly by scrubbing with fiber brushes and then drenching with
clean water.

3- Examine concrete surfaces of stairs, floorings, base, and threshold for

compliance with the requirements for installation tolerances and other
conditions affecting performance of stone finish of stairs. Proceed to
installation if satisfactory conditions have been achieved.

Installations:

a.) Execute flooring installation by skilled fixers and do necessary cutting

. at the site , tile should be cutting from factory
b.) Produce lines cut straight, with edges eased slightly to prevent
. stripping. Use power saws and produce level for stairs
c.) Set stone to comply with drawings and shop drawings. Match for color
.and pattern by using units numbered in sequences as indicated

Flooring .2
a.) Marble flooring shall be set with thick wet mortar bedding on sand
.bedding with a thickness of 25-30 mm
b.) Each stone shall be carefully set into a level and line required and shall

Trades .3

Risers .4

with cement and sand grout mixed with sufficient water to obtain

Bases .5
a.) Bed marble bases in thick mortar approximately 20-30 mm thick and
. install directly to Concrete walls
.b.) Refer to the plans for the details on indicated drawings
.c.) The exterior and interior corners must be mitered at 45º
d.) Grout joints, including joints with flooring with the same pointing
.mortar used in floors

Threshold .6
a.) At locations adjacent to stone flooring, install stone threshold in
.same type of setting bed as abutting stone flooring
b.) Set threshold in thin set, cement mortar at locations
where mortar bed would otherwise be exposed above other
.adjacent flooring
c.) At locations not adjacent to stone flooring, cut back and discard
any setting bed material from the other finish side and leave
.mortar surface uniform with surface of threshold
. d.) During the work , shall be carefully to make a level straight

Adjusting , Cleaning and Protection .7

,a.) Remove and replace marbles which are broken, damaged, stained
defective joints, stone paving and flooring not complying with other
.requirements indicated
.b.) Prohibit traffic from the installed stone for at least 24 hours

 - SAFETY PRECAUTION

-Safety requirements will be addressed in accordance with the project General

safety plan .

-Tools and equipment will be inspected periodic.
