5.0 Procedure

1. Take the value of % Ash, % Volatile Matter (VM) and Total Moisture.
2. Apply the below formula and determine the Fixed Carbon % of Coal

6.0 Calculation and Reporting of Results

Calculate the Ash of the sample on 'Oven dried ' basis as follows:

Fixed Carbon % = 100 - % of Ash - % VM - % TM

VM = Volatile matter
TM = Total Moisture
