PRODUCT INFORMATION
Product SCALE GUARD 11B16
Description Boiler Feedwater Treatment for Scale Control
Benefits A liquid boiler feedwater treatment that contains pyrophosphate for
hardness conditioning, a synthetic organic polymer for dispersancy and an
alkalinity source.
Provide excellent scale and deposit control, and internal metal passivation.
Designed to be used as a residual phosphate programme in boiler systems
with desalinated, reverse osmosis permeate or demineralised feedwater.
Ideal programme for low pressure boiler systems where you need to
compensate for the alkalinity consumed by the use of an oxygen scavenger.
Can be used to treat boiler feed waters with Total Acidified Hardness (TAH)
levels up to 5 ppm.
The suggested maximum use drum pressure is 40 barg.
In compliance with the United States Food & Drugs Administration (F.D.A.)
regulations pertaining to Boiler Water Additives (21 CFR 173.310).

Specification Appearance : Clear solution with faint odour

Specific Gravity : 1.20 - 1.22
pH as supplied : 13.0 – 14.0

Culligan Hazard Category : C – Highly Alkaline
U.N. No. : 3266; Corrosive liquid, basic, inorganic,
N.O.S.
IMDG Class : 8; Corrosive

Application The dosage of SCALE GUARD 11B16 will vary depending on the water quality
and boiler pressure. Exact dosage requirements will be determined by an on-
site Culligan representative.
Overfeed of SCALE GUARD 11B16 will result in high chemical costs. Excessive
feed will also contribute high boiler water solids, which will require excessive
blowdown.
Underfeed of SCALE GUARD 11B16 will result in the formation of tenacious
hardness salts which, in turn, will deposit in the boiler. Excessive deposits can
lead to tube metal overheat and subsequent boiler failure.
