Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital

501 6th Ave South St. Petersburg, FL 33701

Dear Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital,

I was beyond excited when I saw a position open for a new graduate nurse residency program. I
immediately began my application to join such a prestigious and well-known hospital for the
work that is done there. I am currently an accelerated nursing student at the University of South
Florida and will graduate the first week of August this year.

My interest in working with pediatrics began at a young age. My pediatrician is to thank for that.
Dr. Logas was kind, caring, and greatly showed an interest in what he does. I was never fearful
of going to the doctor because I knew I would enjoy my time and be well taken care of as he
made jokes and searched for “french fries” in my ears. The impact Dr. Logas made on me is one
I wish to make on children myself.

Throughout high school, I babysat children during my free time while also serving ice cream at
the Twistee Treat in Ocala. I thoroughly enjoyed my pediatric rotation during clinical at St.
Joseph’s Children’s Hospital in Tampa, Florida. I will never forget a clinical rotation where I
spent time with a seven-month-old boy who had been there since he was born. The mother was
fearful to take him home and hardly came to visit. I remember holding the child and giving him
attention throughout the day. This child was loved by the staff and I still ponder about how he is
doing to this day.

As a nursing student, I have been humbled by all there is to know in the medical world. I could
not imagine myself being anywhere else or working in any other career field. I grew up watching
my mother as a nurse and I have no doubt that nursing is where I am destined to be. I am
confident that I will provide excellent care to the patients at Johns Hopkins and would be
honored to be a part of your nursing staff.

Thank you for your time and consideration of my application. I look forward to learning more
about this opportunity and hearing from Johns Hopkins.

Sincerely,

Hannah Ponder
