APC is provided with an unstabilized +24 V DC supply which can vary

between 19...30 V DC. Maximum input power is 15 VA which gives
0,625 A maximum current with +24 V nominal supply voltage. This
maximum power consumption is valid for APCs including optional
communication boards.
Within the APC there is enough capacitance to provide 5 ms execution
time after power failure is detected. Failure can occur when the supply
voltage falls below +19 V DC.

 %DWWHU\EDFNXS

Battery back-up is provided for calendar and RAM memories.

Guaranteed back-up time is 4 hours but typically back-up is maintained
for upto 48 hours.

 0HPRULHV

System software and application software back-up reside in flash-

proms. The user can update (or erase completely) the application
software back-up.

High speed serial bus is compatible with MasterBus 90.

A high speed communication board is plugged into connector X6 on the
APC and fixed with four M3 screws. Connector X6 has 44 pins. The
APC and communication board transfer information via an 8 bit
databus, 15 bit address bus and necessary control signals.

'&%LQWHUIDFH

Communication boards which are compatible with ABB industry

Communication Board (YPK113A) standard are plugged to connector
X5 on the APC and fixed with three M3 screws. Connector X5 has 36
pins. The APC and communication board transfer information via an 8
bit databus, 3 bit address bus and necessary control signals.

 3&FRPPXQLFDWLRQ

A standard 9 pole female D-connector X4 is used to connect the APC

to a PC. The physical interface is a standard non-isolated RS-232C
(V24) without any handshaking signals.
Maximum length of cable between the APC and the PC is 5 m.

 /RZVSHHGVHULDOEXV

An 8 pole screw terminal connector X2 is used to connect remote I/O

devices and control panels to the APC. Also APC’s can be connected
to each other via the bus. Physically the interface is an isolated RS-
485. The bus has to be grounded to the same point as the APC. The
isolation is designed to handle short term common mode potential
differences of -60...+60 V between different devices connected to the
bus.
Maximum length of the bus is 300 m.

 2SWLFOLQN

Plastic fibre optic receiver V32 and transmitter V33 are used to connect
an AC or DC drive to the APC. Communication speed is 1,5 Mbaud.
Maximum length of the fibre is 15 m with standard attenuation cable
and 25 m with improved attenuation cable.

 2QERDUG,2

For I/O signals there is a 26 pole ribbon cable connector X3 on the

APC. A separate terminal block board is always needed for field signal
connections.

'LJLWDOLQSXWV

Four isolated digital inputs are available on ribbon cable connector X3

on the APC. Nominal control voltage of the inputs is 24 V DC. Input
impedance is 3 kiloohms. "Off" state voltage can vary between 0...+5 V
DC and "On" state voltage between +19...+30 V DC. The APC and the
device controlling the inputs must be grounded to same ground
potential. Isolation is designed to handle short term common mode
potential differences of -60...+60 V between the APC and the device
controlling the inputs. For relay contacts, non-isolated +24 V DC
voltage is available on connector X3.
Input 1 is hardware filtered 0,48 ms. Inputs 2...4 are filtered 4,8 ms.

'LJLWDORXWSXWV

Two relay outputs with normally open contacts are connected to ribbon
cable connector X3. The HW-watchdog must be active while the
contacts are closed. Maximum continuous load current through the
contacts is 200 mA. Nominal voltage rating is 24 V DC. The APC and
the device controlled by the outputs must be grounded to the same
ground. Isolation is designed to handle short term common mode
potential differences of -60...+60 V between the APC and the device
controlled by the outputs.

$QDORJLQSXWV

Two differential analog inputs are connected to the ribbon cable

connector X3. Input ranges are -10...+10 V or 0...20 mA. Via software
parameters the voltage range can be selected to -10...+10 V, 0...+10 V
or 0...+1 V. Input impedance for voltage inputs is 380 kiloohms and for
current inputs 500 ohms. The differential input stage is designed to
handle short term common mode potential differences of -60...+60 V
between the APC and the device controlling the inputs.
The resolution of the inputs is 12 bits and absolute accuracy +1 %.

5HIHUHQFHRXWSXW

+10 V reference voltage output is connected to the ribbon cable

connector X3. Accuracy of the output is +1 % and the maximum load
current is 10 mA.

1 mm core plastic optic fibre has to be used.

There are certain important rules which have to be obeyed to
guarantee reliable operation of the optic link.
- Use standard attenuation cable Hewlett-Packard HFBR-P (or
equivalent) with cable lengths up to 15 m.
- Use improved attenuation cable Hewlett-Packard HFBR-EU (or
equivalent) with cable lengths up to 25 m.
- Maximum short time tensile force to the cable is 8,5 N (restricting
point is the press joint between cable and connector).
- Maximum long term tensile force to the cable is 1 N.
- Minimum bending radius of the cable is 10 mm short term and 35
mm long term.

This bus can be considered as one cable to which all devices are
connected. This is known as multidrop configuration. Star connection of
devices is not permitted. It is important that the cable is terminated at
both ends. At one end the cable must have active termination as shown
in Figure 7. Also, the cable shield and signal zero, 0VP, has to be
grounded directly at one point only as shown in Figure 7.

When the APC is not at the ends of the bus, there must not be any
terminations. The cable shield must be grounded via a capacitor and
resistor as shown is Figure 9.
To provide effective protection against disturbances it is important to
make the cable shield stub length as short as possible. Maximum shield
stub length is 5 cm.

Unshielded cable between the APC and power supply can be used.
Note that 0 V supply input of the is directly grounded to the unit rack
housing the APC.

 2QERDUG,2

I/O-signals from the terminal block board are connected to the APC via
a 26 pole ribbon cable. The ribbon cable should be made as short as
possible. Unshielded ribbon cable can be used, provided the cable
length is maximum 2 m.

 ([WHQGHG,2

Extended I/O boards are connected to the APC via the low speed serial
bus connector X2 (as remote I/O) or via 64 pole ribbon cable connector
X8 (as local I/O). Connection rules for low speed serial bus are
explained in paragraph 4.3.

17
YPP110A 3AFE58177652

Extended I/O boards are installed onto a mounting plate like YPP110A
and are fitted into a board rack unit. Rack units are available for 1-5
boards. The rack units have a connector (X8) and ribbon cable (Figure
2) through which the APC board is connected to other I/O boards.
NOTE: The ribbon cable also feeds the power supply to the extended
I/O boards.

The unit rack for housing the APC has to be grounded. The grounding
can be made to the cubicle frame via the 4 fixing screws at the top and
bottom of the unit rack. If grounding to a separate electronic earth (in
some systems technical earth TE is available) is preferred the unit rack
housing the APC must be mounted and the cubicle frame insulated.
This is because the APC electronic ground is connected to the unit
rack. For this case holes are provided in the front of the unit rack to
which the cable lug of the grounding wire can be screwed.
The holes in front of the unit rack can be also used for grounding of the
communication interfaces and cable shields of the optional
communication boards.
