Reflection:
LEARNER-CENTERED TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

As a teacher, I believe that a learner-centered approach is


very important in our everyday teaching. By focusing on students’
needs, teachers can assist and teach students within the classroom,
ensuring a higher level of student success. Student-centered
philosophies focus more on training individual students. It is based on
the needs, abilities, interests, and learning styles of the student.
The teacher is a facilitator in the learning environment. Students are
required to be active, responsible participants in their own learning.
This philosophy placed more emphasis on the individuality of
students and helping them to realize their potential. A student-
centered classroom may be less rigid or structured, less concerned
about past teaching practices and drilling academics, and more focused
on training students for success in an ever-changing world. Students
and teachers typically decide together what should be learned and how
this can best be achieved.

By focusing on student-centered philosophies, school systems,


and educators will be able to make necessary changes to create
effective and life-transforming environments for students.

Like what I have done in teaching Math, I used cooperative


learning and grouped them according to their intelligence or Multiple
Intelligences theory for them to easily understand the lesson.

REFLECTION: (School Learning Action Cell)


School Learning Recovery Plan
Following the progressive expansion of face-to-face classes, the

Department of Education (DepEd) is developing a learning recovery plan

framework to guide schools in addressing learning gaps due to pandemic-

related disruptions. With this, the school develops different programs to

address the learning gaps of the learners. Our Master Teacher, calls for a

meeting to conduct the different learning programs in different learning

areas.

As a classroom adviser, the learning program is very important to

address the learning gaps brought on by the pandemic in education. I’m glad

that we have learning programs for our learners such as Project Baon in Math

(Batang AMES Outstanding sa Numeracy), Nanay Ko tutor Ko, and Project BASA in

Reading Literacy.

REFLECTION: My Advisory Class

An advisory is a regularly scheduled period of time,

typically during the school day when teachers meet with small groups of

students for the purpose of advising them on academic, social, or

future-planning issues. This school year 2022-2023, I am the adviser of

Grade One section Freesia. Being an adviser to grade one learner take a

big responsibility. I have to work with stakeholders and school personnel

in carrying out the school vision and Mission for the development of my

learners. Implements consistently classroom/school rules and regulations

in my class. I have to make them feel that they are loved and cared and

secured inside our classroom.

It was a great achievement on my part when they learned how to

read, write and count. When they learned how to be a good citizen of the

Philippines. And most of all, to love God and honor their parents.

REFLECTION: My Authorship in Math for Grade One

It was year 2020 when I started as a Module writer in

Mathematics for Grade One learners in Valenzuela. This is to adhere in

the Deped Memorandum in preparation for the New Normal in Education.

The Division City Schools of Valenzuela provided Self Learning MOdule

with alternative learning delivery modalities to be offered for various

types of learners across the City of Valenzuela.

This School Year 2022-2023, It was a great privilege for

being one of the module writers in Mathematics for Grade One. The

modules used during the pandemic helps the learners to bridge the

learning gaps or losses due to the pandemic. Even though we are now in

the face to face classes, the module has been a great help in bridging

the learning gaps in math. Through various exercises in the module, the

learners were able to master the competencies in Mathematics.
