Challenge exercise: Create refurbishment

Use the skills and the techniques that were covered in this section to solve the challenge.

The challenge is to demolish existing objects and then create design options for refurbishment.
Compare design options and then assign a phase filter to the views.

Open the accompanying file Create Refurbishment.rvt and then follow the tasks.

TASK 1 – Demolish existing objects

1. Create a plan view for Level 2 to view the New Construction phase. Name the view Level 2
Proposed.
2. Set the Phase filter to Show All.
3. Demolish the existing objects as shown in the image below.

4. Create a new wall and door as per the image below:

TASK 2 – Create design options

1. Create a Design Option Set named Level 2 Refurbishment.

2. Create two options, Option 1 and Option 2.
3. Add the new walls and doors to each option as per the images below.

TASK 3 – Compare design options

1. Create a floor plan view for both Option 1 and Option 2.

2. Set each plan to display the specific design option its name relates to.
3. Duplicate the 3D Level 2 Existing view for each option and rename to 3D level 2 Option 1 and 3D
level 2 Option 2.
4. Set the phase and design option to display the relevant design option for each view.
5. Assign the Show Complete phase filter to all views.
