Note
Do not confuse demonstrative pronouns with demonstrative
adjectives. They are identical, but a demonstrative pronoun stands
alone, while a demonstrative adjective qualifies a noun. The
demonstrative adjective in a sentence will come just before a noun
or a pronoun and tells you which one it is specifically modifying.

▪ That smell. (demonstrative pronouns)

▪ This is the first time. (demonstrative pronoun)
▪ Those are not good. (demonstrative pronoun)

▪ That book is good. (demonstrative adjective)

▪ This day could not get any better! (demonstrative adjective)
▪ That house across the street is so adorable. (demonstrative
adjective)
