AIM OFTHE THEEXPERIMENT :

EXPERIMENT NO.2
To determine the resistance of a given
wire with a meter bridge and hence find
of it's material. resistivity

APPARATUS REQUIRED
A meter bridge (slide wire bridge), a leclanch cell, a galvanometer, a resistance bOx, a
iockey. a resistance wire or coil, a set square, sand paper and connecting wires.
DIAGRAM AND DESCRIPTION OF APPARATUS:
As discussed in section 2.4.
THEORY :
A meter bridge works on the principle of wheatstone's bridge which is as follows:If
four resistances P, Q, X and R are So joined that they form a close network ABCD and of a
cell is connected between A and C, a galvanometer between B and D and the values of P, Q,
now said to be
R, X are so adjusted that the galvanometer shows no deflection. The bridge is
balanced and the relation.

is obtained.
