EXAMPLE for next week:

A Y-connected synchronous generator rated 100 MVA, 13.2 kV has a rated impedance of R = 5% and Xs = 80%
(note - this is per unit format calculated using generators own power and voltage ratings as base values).

Generator is connected to a transmission line that can be satisfactorily characterised with an impedance of
Z = j10 ohms through a 13.8/120 kV, 100 MVA, delta - star transformer with a rated impedance of
R = 2% and X = 8% per unit (calculated again with respect to its own power and voltage ratings).

a) Sketch the one-line diagram of this power system, with all symbols labelled appropriately.
b) Find per-unit impedances of the generator, transformer and transmission line using the given system base
quantities and draw the equivalent per-unit circuit of this system.
c) A 200 ohms star-connected resistive load is supplied via this transmission line.
If the internal voltage of the generator in the system is Ea=1.1 pu, (with 20 degrees phase)
what is the terminal voltage of the generator and how much power is supplied to this load?

Use 200 MVA, 120 kV as the base values for the transmission line voltage region of this system.
