Strategies for Effective Interaction in a Global Society:
Intercultural Communication
Introduction
In today's world increased interconnectedness requires us to communicate competently with
people whose cultures are different from our own; that is, to engage in intercultural
communication (Jandt, 2019, p. XV). Effective cross-cultural communication is now more
crucial than ever due to the growing globalization of economies, migration, and technology
breakthroughs. This study intends to describe ways for encouraging good intercultural
communication, stress the importance of intercultural communication in a globalized society,
and give an overview of intercultural communication.
Another essential tactic is the active listening. The ability to listen intently and ask questions
when clarification is required can improve communication and show respect for the speaker's
point of view. Being aware of non-verbal clues is equally vital because of the different cultures
may interpret gestures, eye contact, and personal space differently.
Conclusion
In a global society, intercultural communication is an essential skill for individuals and
organizations. (Varner & Beamer, 2019, p. 205). People may manage cultural differences,
advance understanding, and forge deeper relationships across cultures by grasping the
foundations of intercultural communication and using practical tools. Not only will accepting
diversity and investing in intercultural competency result in effective encounters, but they will
also help create a more inclusive and peaceful global community.
