3. SCR Inlet NOx Sensor
1. Shut off the engine, apply the parking brake, chock the wheels, and perform any other applicable safety
steps.
CAUTION
ELECTRICAL SHOCK
To avoid injury from electrical shock, use care when connecting battery cables. The magnetic switch
studs are at battery voltage.
2. Disconnect the batteries. Refer to OEM procedures.
3. If necessary, remove the passenger side fairing. Refer to OEM procedures.
4. Disconnect the Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) pressure and DEF return line heater electrical connectors
(located below the DEF dosing unit).

Inspect as follows:
1. Inspect the inlet NOx sensor for damaged or bent pins. Replace as needed.
2. Inspect the inlet NOx sensor body for cracks or damage. Replace as needed.
3. Inspect the threads of the inlet NOx sensor for damage. Replace as needed.
NOTICE
When reusing a NOx sensor, apply a small amount of anti-seize compound to the threads.
Excessive amounts of anti-seize will squeeze out when the sensor is tightened, possibly
contaminating the sensor. New sensors already have a small amount of anti-seize
compound on their threads.
NOTICE
DO NOT over-tighten sensors; damage to threads may occur.

2. Install the Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) Inlet NOx sensor (4) to the ATD. Use the slotted O2 sensor
socket and torque the NOx sensor to 50 N·m (37 lb·ft).
3. Install the two SCR Electronic Control Unit (ECU) mounting bolts (3) fastening the ECU (2) to the mounting
bracket. Torque the bolts to 12 N·m (9 lb·ft).
4. Connect the SCR Inlet NOx sensor ECU electrical connector (5).
5. Install zip-ties securing the SCR Inlet NOx sensor wire harness to the ATD.
6. Install the Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) line heater electrical mounting bracket (1). Torque the bolts to 12
N·m (9 lb·ft).
7. Install the DEF pressure and DEF return line heater electrical connectors.
CAUTION
ELECTRICAL SHOCK
To avoid injury from electrical shock, use care when connecting battery cables. The magnetic switch
studs are at battery voltage.
8. Connect the batteries. Refer to OEM procedures.
9. If removed, install the passenger side fairing. Refer to OEM procedures.

3. If necessary, remove the passenger side fairing. Refer to OEM procedures.
4. Remove the mounting bracket (1).
5. Disconnect the Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) outlet NOx sensor (4), Electronic Control Unit (ECU)
(2) and electrical connector (5).
6. Remove the two bolts (3) that secure the ECU to the mounting bracket and remove the ECU (2).
7. To help ensure proper installation, note the location of the zip ties securing the SCR outlet NOx sensor
wiring harness to the ATD.
8. Remove the SCR outlet NOx sensor wiring harness mounting zip ties.
9. Use a slotted O2 sensor socket and remove the SCR outlet NOx sensor (4) from the ATD.

1. Inspect outlet NOx sensor for damaged or bent pins. Replace as needed.
2. Inspect the outlet NOx sensor body for cracks or damage. Replace as needed.
3. Inspect the threads of the outlet NOx sensor for damage. Replace as needed.
NOTICE
When reusing a NOx sensor, apply a small amount of anti-seize compound to the threads.
Excessive amounts of anti-seize will squeeze out when torqueing, possibly contaminating
the sensor. New sensors already have a small amount of anti-seize compound on their
threads.
1. If reusing the sensor apply anti-seize to the threads of the NOx sensor.
NOTICE
DO NOT over tighten sensors; damage to threads may occur.
2. Install the Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) outlet NOx sensor (4) to the ATD. Use the slotted O2 sensor
