Transition to Work The teacher gives instructions on how to do the independent

Activity Market Categorizing: Wet and Dry Goods (KTG, p. 389)

Competencies:

 Sort and classify objects according to one attribute/
Work Period 1 property (shape, color, size, function/use)

Materials:
Big boxes of grocery items, toys, foods, toy cash register,
baskets, fruits, vegetables etc.

Procedure:
1. Teacher will prepare dramatic play area and will set it up
like a supermarket/ market.
2. Let the learners choose their roles and play pretend at the
Dramatic Play Area.

Independent Activities GROUP 1: SPOT THE LETTER Jj (Introduce Letter
Jj)
(Use Classroom Rubrics in all activities)

Materials: list of random letters on a large sheet of paper

Procedure:
 Show words that begin with J.
 Show the letter Jj
 Show the learners how to write Jj
 Give examples of words that begin with /j/.
 Ask the learners to give the sound of /j/.
 Ask the learners for other words that begin with /j/.
 Ask the learners to look for all the letter Js in the list.

GROUP 2: Writing Letter Jj

Materials: blank piece of paper, writing materials,


worksheet

Procedure:
 Ask the children to write as many letter Js on their
paper.
 Ask them to decorate their paper.
 Have a simple presentation after.

GROUP 3: Letter Jj Mosaic

Materials: small pieces of papers, glue, worksheet

Procedure:
 Ask the learners to paste small colorful pieces of
paper into the worksheet.
 Have a simple presentation after.

GROUP 3: Letter Jj Jumping


Procedure:
1. Show pictures that begin with J.
2. Demonstrate how to count the number of syllables.
3. Say the words orally and ask the learners to jump to
the number of
syllables.
4. Count the number of syllables and record them on
the board.

Transition to Meeting The teacher reminds the learners about the time left in Work

After 10 minutes, the teacher tells the learners to start
packing away the materials they used and be ready for
Meeting Time 2. A transition song or a countdown may be
used.
Questions/Activity Let the learners present their work. Afterwards, encourage
them to sing the song “Rain, rain go away...”

Transition to Quiet After their health break, the teacher reminds the children to

Transition to Story While singing a transition song, the teacher “wakes” the

pre-reading activities and makes sure that the learners are
listening attentively.

Story Time
 Ask the motive and HOTS question: Bakit?Paano?
During Reading  Ask comprehension with HOTS questions while telling the

Post-Reading Activity  Ask some questions to learners to give them hint on the
values of the story.
Transition to Work After the post-reading activities, the teacher gives
Period 2 instructions regarding the teacher-supervised and
independent activities, answers any questions, and tells the
learners to do their assigned tasks within the allotted time.

Activity (Use Classroom Rubrics)

Materials: Materials: a series of pictures or drawing with


patterns (for example: park, park, beach, park, park, beach),

Procedure:
1. Show the learners patterns of pictures.
2. Explain how patterns are formed.
3. Ask the learners to complete the patterns
4. Give the child a tally board.
5. Let the learners go around the classroom and ask them
to count and record the items written on the tally board.
6. Ask the learners to complete the patterns by adding
subsequent pictures.

Independent Activities GROUP 1: Block Play: Places of Recreation
(Use classroom Rubrics)

Materials: blocks, picture or drawing of places of recreation

Procedure:
1. Put pictures of places of recreation at the Blocks Area.
2. Encourage the learners to build places of recreation in the
community, with the pictures as examples.

GROUP 2: Picture Puzzles

Materials: Picture puzzles of different recreational places (if


available) or cardboard with drawing of different recreational
places in the community

Procedure:
1. Cut each board in four to six puzzle pieces and put it
on boxes.
2. Let the learners to play and form the puzzles.

GROUP 3: Objects and Numeral Matching

Materials: cards with numbers, objects found in the


classroom

Procedure:
1. Let the learners pick a card.
2. Ask the learners to place the number of objects as
indicated in the card.

GROUP 4: Numeral Writing


Materials: worksheet with different number of items (0-8),
writing materials

Procedure:
1. Ask the learners to count the objects in the picture.
2. Let the learners write the numeral s beside each item.

GROUP 5: My Number booklet

Materials: worksheet/booklet , glue, picture cut-outs

Procedure:
1. Let the learners paste the 8 pictures for every page.
2. They may be guided to write a title for each showing the
quantity and name of object (i.e. 8 slides, 8 boats)
Learning Checkpoints  Block play: The teacher checks if the learners can
create a model of places of recreation using blocks.
 Object and numeral matching: The teacher checks if the
learners can match the objects and numerals.
 Numeral writing: The teacher checks if the learners can
count the picture and write the numeral that represents
it.
 My number booklet: The teacher checks if the learners
can paste the number of objects based on what is written
on the paper.
Transition to Indoor The teacher reminds the learners about the time left in Work
Game/Light Physical Period Time 2 around 15 minutes before Indoor
