Learners must understand what were the areas of conflict between the superpowers in the cold war

2. SKILLS
Learners must be able differentiate between the arms race and the space race and what is each focus
and contribution towards areas of conflict and competition between the superpowers in the cold war.

3. VALUES/ATTITUDES
Learners must be able to know the importance to differentiate between the areas of conflict and how
superpowers influenced the cold war.

F: LESSON PHASES:
1. INTRODUCTION
Introducing this lesson, I will start by defining these two terms to my learners, the arms race and the
space race and how the superpowers during the cold war were competed. This is to fully gear up my
learners into understanding the whole concept of superpowers in the cold war.

2. DEVELOPMENT
STEP1: In this instance, I will be taking them thorough on what really intercepted during the cold war:

 They used propaganda to convince people that their side was right.
 They used spies to find out what was the other side was doing and what weapons they had.
 They gave aid to smaller and poorer countries to win their support.
 They became involved in local wars in other parts of the world, by giving weapons and
money to groups fighting civil wars.

STEP 2: Proceeding with this lesson, I will give them a source to read which further discusses
the relationship between the arms race and the space race.

3. CONSOLIDATION/LESSON CONCLUSION
Wrapping up today’s lesson I will open up a platform for any queries my learners may arise and
lesson, will give them a class activity to complete.
