EXPERIMENT NO.1

OBJECT-To study the oscillation of simple pendulum and verify the relation
T 27I/g for a
simple pendulum.
APPRATUS &EQUIPMENTS REQUIRED:-Simple pendulum, stopwatch
scale.

THEORY-
Consider a light still rope of length "T pivoted at one
end and having a concentrated mass 'm' at the other end
as shown in the fig. This forms a simple pendulum.

Ifthe rope is displaced by an angle e' a restoring force

act of the bob towards its mean position O.

For small amplitude of vibration, the displacement of the bob may be considered to
be linear. Now taking moment about the pivot point O, and applying Newton's
second law
(Mass M.I of Bob about O).- (Angular acceleration) = Algebraic sum of the Moment
of Restoring Forces about O

It bob is considered to be a concentrated mass and taking mass of rope negligible
then

PROCEDURE
Fix the balls with ropes in to the hooks provide at the top beam of the frame,
and measure the length of pendulum as show. Oscillate the pendulum and measuree
the time required for 10 oscillations. Repeat the changing the ball and changing the
length.
