Discussion, Conclusion and recommendation

Summary

This study was quantitative research that employed the survey method and non-probability sampling
to gather the necessary data. The purpose of this study is to determine what are the factors that affect
the proper waste segregation and management in San Francisco Javier College -AR of NARRA, Palawan,
Inc. The survey was conducted on the 236 students of San Francisco Javier College-AR of Narra, inc.
where the respondents were randomly selected.

This study answered the following research questions:

1. How knowledgeable are the students of San Francisco Javier College-AR of Narra, Palawan, Inc.
regarding proper waste segregation and management?

2. What are the facilitating and restraining factors affecting proper waste segregation practice at San
Francisco Javier College?

A. Tired of going to the trash can.

B. Trash cans are not available.

C. Trash can is only one. (No other trash cans)

D. Trash can has no label.

E. Trash cans are properly labelled but there's no one around to check.

3. What action plan to propose to improve the proper waste management at San Francisco Javier
College?

Findings of the Study

Through the findings of the study researchers discovered that majority of the students have
attended an orientation and have moderate knowledge regarding proper waste management. The
researchers also discovered that the students did not always follow the proper waste management,
3(1.27%) have never followed any of the proper waste management, 96(40.68%) always follow while the
remaining 137(58.05%) did not always follow. The researchers also found out what are the factors that
affect the students of San Francisco Javier College from managing waste properly. These were the trash
can that has no label which has 41(16.53%), trash cans were not available on the area 39(15.37%), there
is only one trash can (no other trash cans) 44(17.74%), tired of going to the trash cans 53(21.37%) and
trash cans were properly labelled but there were no one around to check 71(28.63%). Lastly, although
the students have moderate knowledge about proper waste management, they do not apply it because
of the said factors affecting them not to do it.

Conclusion

This study has demonstrated that the students at San Francisco Javier College do not always follow
proper waste management and have moderate knowledge about proper waste management.

This study was conducted to examine the factors affecting proper waste management. The result
of the findings revealed that students knowledge was one of the factors that affects their ability about
proper waste management. The null hypothesis of this study was rejected. Therefore, the researchers
determined the factors affecting the ability of the students to apply their knowledge about proper waste
management and the following are the factors that affect the students of San Francisco Javier College
form properly managing their waste: Tired of going to the trash cans, trash cans are not available, trash
can is only one (No other trash cans), trash can has no label and lastly, the trash cans are properly
labelled but there's no one around to check.

Recommendation

Based on the findings and conclusion arrived, the researchers offer the following recommendations:

1. The students can use this study as a reference for additional knowledge about proper waste
segregation and management.

2. Future researchers can furtherly improve this in regards to the proper waste segregation and
management.

3. Future researchers could do further studies about this research to make it more accurate and
dependable.
