Mary’s birthday is on September 8th. We also celebrate Mary on Jesus’ birthday – December 25th. Her feast
day is on January 1st. We remember her rising into heaven on August 15th: The Assumption. The Immaculate
Conception is when Mary was conceived without Original Sin, and the Church celebrates that on December
8th. Finally, for hundreds of years, people have dedicated the month of May to Mary because it is spring and
a time of joy and life.
Mary was married to St. Joseph, who helped take care of Jesus. She was very
present throughout Jesus’ life – she was instrumental in His first miracle at
Cana, stood at the cross when he died, and was with the disciples during the
time after Jesus’ death.
