What is it? Why is it important?

Our reproductive system is a group of organs


responsible for producing offspring!
It’s responsible for a lot of our bodies' processes
and keeping it healthy keeps us healthy, too!
Father and mother produce different
reproductive cells!

⚬ Very tiny cell
2 Cycles:
• Ovarian cycle
• Endometrial cycle

days, and then repeats.
• Primary female hormone: Estrogen
Eggs stored in female ovaries.
Egg
• One egg released each month
(ovarian cycle begins).
Ovulation
• Ovary releases mature egg into

Fertilization
• Egg and sperm unite.
Lining of uterus (endometrium)
thickens to provide a place for
fertilized egg to implant.
• If egg is not fertilized, it
dissolves and disappears.
• Menstruation: Lining in uterus
dissolves and flows out of the
body.

Changing hormones → changing emotions


• Boys have emotions too, but not in the way
that girls do. These changing emotions in girls
is due to estrogen!

Sperm enters woman through
vagina during sex.
• Sperm tries to find egg.
⚬ Egg is in woman’s fallopian
tube.
• If sperm unites with an egg,
egg becomes fertilized.

• Would you all make it?
⚬ Some might get tired
⚬ Some might get lost
Just like us, many sperm never
make it:
• Half of them die in the vagina.
• Others enter the wrong fallopian
tube.

You cannot get/make the girl pregnant
from:
• Kissing
• Masturbation
• Dry humping (with clothes on)

• Vaginal sex with a penis without any birth
control!
• Any activity where semen is ejaculated in or
near the vagina!
Can I get/make the girl pregnant if I’m
using birth control?
• Yes!
Can I get pregnant during my period?
• Yes!
Can I get/make the girl pregnant if it’s my
first time having vaginal sex?
• Yes!
It prevents pregnancy!

• Everyone will receive one card, don’t show
anyone!
• You will also receive a marker
• When I say go, you will walk around the room and
have 3 different people sign the back of your
card.
• Follow the directions on what your card says.
• Once you have 3 names, go back to your seat,
and sit down
• Wait for further instructions
PREVENTION
• Abstinence
• Avoid drugs/alcohol
• Get tested regularly
• One partner for a lifetime.
• Appropriate care/treatment
• Respect
• WEAR A CONDOM!
