b. Competing models of the universe by Eudoxus, Aristotle, Aristarchus, Ptolemy, Copernicus, Brahe, and Kepler
c. Evidence that the Earth is not the center of the universe.
d. Aristotelian vs. Galilean views of motion
e. How Galileo used his discoveries in mechanics (and astronomy) to address scientific objections to the Copernican model.
PERFORMANCE STANDARD The learners will create a model of the universe using recyclable materials that are available in their respective homes.
LEARNING COMPETENCIES  Explain how the Greeks knew that the Earth is spherical. S11/12PS-IVa-38

INSTRUCTION/ DELIVERY The teacher will present to the class the concepts of the lesson and relate these concepts to other topics/disciplines.

VALUES INTEGRATION: Appreciate the significant contributions made by the different astronomers on the development of Earth
science.
PRACTICE Direct the learners to Science Connections and Practical Sciences on pages 133- 134, respectively, to enrich their understanding of the
lesson.
