(d) What is the name of the phenomenon when the length of D is made equal to C?

10.A man standing between two cliffs produces a sound and hears two successive
echoes at intervals of 3 s and 4 s respectively. Calculate the distance between the
two cliffs. The speed of sound in the air is 330 m/s.
(b) Why will an echo not be heard when the distance between the source of sound and
the reflecting surface is 10 m?

11. An element ASZ decays to 85R222 after emitting 8 α particles and 6 β particle.
Find the atomic number and atomic mass of the element S.?

beta -particle, such that the resulting nuclides isYPQ. Find the values of P ,Q

13.John fires a gun towards a hill and hears its echo after 5 seconds. He then moves
320 m towards the hill and fires his gun again. This time he hears the echo after 3
seconds. Calculate i) the velocity of sound and ii) distance between the original
position of man & the hill.

14. A postage stamp appears raised by 7mm when placed under a rectangular glass
block of R.I is 1.5. Find the thickness of the glass block

real image (ii) enlarged virtual image? Name the lens

17. If the image formed by a lens is diminished in size and erect, for all positions of
the object, what type of lens is it? Name the point on the lens through which a ray of
light passes undeviated. An object is placed perpendicular to the principal axis of a
convex lens of focal length 20 cm. The distance of the object from the lens is 30 cm.
Find (i) the position (ii) the magnification and (iii) the nature of the image formed
