    This study analyzed peat bogs near Miasteczko Śląskie, Poland to reconstruct the history of local ore mining and smelting activities over centuries. Heavy metal concentrations in the peat bogs indicated periods of increased mining and smelting from the 15th to 19th centuries. Peat bogs can preserve a record of heavy metal pollution from past industrial activities in the surrounding areas.
