Applications of Fiber Reinforced Polymer Composites

Call for Papers

Fueled by the need to surpass the limitations of conventional materials, recent years have
seen a large increase in engineering applications of advanced fiber reinforced polymer (FRP)
composite materials in many major industries, such as aerospace and defense, automotive,
construction, marine, and oil and gas industries. FRP composites are very attractive for use in
engineering applications due to their highly favorable material properties, including high
strength-to-weight and stiffness-to-weight ratios, corrosion resistance, and light weight.
Studies conducted to date have demonstrated numerous advantages offered by FRP
composites in various engineering applications. However, there are still a number of
technical and implementation issues that need to be resolved prior to broader uptake of the
application of FRP composites by some engineering communities such as civil construction.
This special issue is aimed at disseminating the most recent advances and developments in
this exciting field.
We invite authors to submit original research and review articles dealing with cutting-edge
issues on research and application of FRP composites.
Potential topics include, but are not limited to:
Test methods of FRP composites
Failure criteria of FRP composites
Nanotechnology and recent developments in FRP nanocomposites for engineering
applications
Hybrid-FRP, all-FRP, and smart-FRP structures and structural components
New design and manufacturing technologies for FRP composite components and structures
Testing and characterization of FRP components for engineering applications
Durability and long-term performance of composites, structural elements, and systems
Fatigue performance of composites, structural elements, and systems
Behavior of composites, structural elements, and systems under elevated temperature
