towards East. Calculate distance and displacement.
2. A body travels a distance of 3 km towards East, then 4 km towards North and finally 9 km towards
East.
a. What is the total distance travelled?
b. What is the resultant displacement?

3. An ant travels a distance of 8 cm from P to Q and then moves a distance of 6 cm at right angles to
PQ. Find its resultant displacement.

4. An athlete completes one round of a circular track of diameter 200 m in 40 s. What will be the
distance covered and the displacement but the end me 2 minutes 20 s?

5. A farmer moves along the boundary of a square field side 10 m in 40 s. What will be the
magnitude of displacement of the farmer at the end of 2 min 20 seconds from his initial position?

6. The minute hand of a clock is 7 cm long. Calculate the distance covered and the displacement of
minute hand of the clock from 9.00 AM to 9.30 AM.

a. The distance travelled by the athlete at the end of 1 minute and 10 seconds. and
b. The magnitude of the displacement of the athlete at the end of 1 minute and 10 seconds
8. Ram travels on a straight road. He goes from position A to B. The distance between A and B is 4
km. now from position B he turns back and travels a distance of 2 km to reach the position C. find
a. The total distance travelled by Ram during the whole journey and
b. Magnitude of his displacement.
