HEALTH – RELATED FITNESS
• Health – related fitness refers to
those components of fitness
associated with good health and well
being of an individual. These
components are cardiovascular
fitness, muscular endurance,
muscular strength, flexibility, and
body composition.

Cardiovascular Fitness
• It is the ability of the circulatory
system to supply oxygen to working
muscles for a prolonged period of
time. This is also known as CARDIO-
RESPIRATORY FITNESS.
Muscular Strength
• It refers to the maximum amount of
force a muscle can exert against an
opposing force.
Muscular Endurance
• It is the ability of the muscle to work
over a prolonged period without
undue fatigue.
Flexibility
• It is the ability to use one’s joints
fully in a normal range of motion.
Body Composition
• It is the relative percentage of the body
fat compared with lean body mass.
SKILL – RELATED FITNESS
• Skill – related fitness encompasses
the skills of an individual should
acquire and improve through physical
activity. These components are
balance, agility, coordination,
reaction time, speed and power.
Balance
• It is the ability to maintain
equilibrium while stationary or
moving.
Agility
• It is the ability to rapidly and
accurately change the direction of the
whole body in space.
oordination
• It is the ability to use senses and body
parts in order to perform motor task
smoothly and accurately.
Reaction Time
• It is the ability to respond quickly to
stimuli.
Speed
• It is the amount of time it takes the
body to perform specific tasks
Power
• It is the amount of force a muscle can
exert.
