REFLECTION ON INSTRUCTIONAL LEADERSHIP

QUARTER 1 – LESSON PLANNING

In every undertaking, there must be something that you must learn and reflect on.
As instructional leader, there is a must to meet the development needs of the teachers. There is a need to
help them develop their full potential. It is also necessary to provide them support, guidance and advice them to
enable them to enhance their teaching skills to develop professionally.
After having been identified the development needs of the teachers in instructional competence, action
plan has been implemented. Lesson planning is one of the instructional devices that needs to be monitored. It
very crucial since it reflects the effectivity of the lessons. The designed plan was checked and monitored
whether the formative assessment was aligned with its objectives. Pre-conference was conducted following the
steps in conducting discussion in agreement sessions as indicated in the DepEd RPMS Manual efficiently.
Technical assisstance was provided to address the gaps and help the teacher improve her performance in
designing, utilizing detailed lesson plan.
The teachers positively accepted all the suggestions and advices given by the Master Teacher and looked
forward for a better performance in making or utilizing the detailed lesson plan. It also provided an opportunity
to practice the learnings and develop herself in performing the task in formative test constructions.
After the closed monitoring to its targeted action plan, follow-up session was done. Mastery of the
skills/competency were identified. The teahcers became more effective in teaching and improved productivity
in designing detailed lesson plan.
It made me realize how vital LESSON PLANNING is to children, and imparting knowledge to my
colleagues on making learning easy and effective will make education reach its maximum potential.
I also noticed that kids after the pandemic showed significant back lagging in some skills. My colleagues
also confirm that their pupils also have the same case. We all know that there is a need for deep learning across
the curriculum and developing skills essential to everyday life. Hence, the need to effectively teach these is
vital.
