Summary

a. Cognitive/Intellectual: this will give the assessor an idea as to how the assessee thinks
and makes decisions. It may clue the assessor in on possible areas of cognition that he/she
is experiencing problems in. Apart from that, knowing his/her intellectual functioning will help
us understand his/her level of intelligence. This will also give us an idea of his/her level of
insight and which types of therapy may or may not work.

b. Behavioral: this is related to behaviors that might be driven by dysfunctions in other areas
of functioning. How does the individual behave during the testing situation? How does the
individual behave in general? Are there clues in his/her behavior that might give us an idea
of the type of disorder he/she might have?

c. Emotional: What are the possible emotional problems this assessee might have? Is the
client able to regulate his/her emotions? How does the client deal with his/her emotions?

d. Interpersonal: this will give the assessor an idea of how the client’s relationships are handled.
At the same time, it will also give an idea of what possible issues there may be as a result of
problems in this area of functioning. Does the client have a good social support system? If
not, why?

e. Intrapersonal: this relates to how the client sees himself/herself. What are the client’s
personal strengths? What are the client’s weaknesses? What are possible issues the client
may have in terms of how he/she sees himself/herself?
