TLE6IA-Oi-12

After going through this module, the learners are expected to:
1. Identify the recyclable products/waste materials
LEARNING OBJECTIVES 2. Tell what are the recyclable products/waste materials

UNDERSTAND
T

Today we are going to learn about things that is being thrown away and yet we can still make use of it
in our daily lives.

What is Recycling
 Recycling is a process of collecting and processing materials that would otherwise be thrown
away as trash and turning them into new process.

These ictures show that thrown away trash can be turned into new one, where they can be useful
again in our houses or community.

Recyclable materials that can be recycled

Waste Paper and Cardboard

boxes, used notebooks, flyers, used calendars, etc.

2|P a g e
Papers vary in colors, thickness, and textures. While office paper can be made of much higher quality
Compared to brown paper when recycled. Example of recycled paper are paper flower, paper bags, jewelry box, paper
vases, photo frames, paper baskets and many more.

Plastic Recycling
Soda bottles, feeding bottles, bags, pails, etc.

Plastic ranks one in quantity as trash. This plastic last long time in the environment without breaking
down. This has become an environmental concern worldwide. Because plastic are difficult to recycle
and it is also considered environmental nightmare. Plastic gallons can also be used as water
container and plant pots, desk organizer, garden lampshades.

Metal Recycling
aluminum drink cans, cooking oil cans, irons, etc.

Most of the metal that you throw comes from food and drink cans. They are made from steel that can be melted
and turned into new cans. Drink cans are made from aluminum that can easily be recycled easily, Example are cooking
utensils, home utensils, organizers.

Wood Recycling

Wood is basically used for shelter, fuel, furniture and finishing. Some home decorations are also made from woods.
Example of recycled products from woods are plants boxes, plants stands, wall decors, garden sets, glass coaters,
wooden serving and mixing spoons and even dinning, wooden utensils.

Glass Recycling
Bottles, jars, soft drinks bottles, glass

3|P a g e
This is the easiest material to recycle. Glasses are broken into small pieces and melted down to shape
into a new product. These are some of the many projects that you can make out of used glass containers, and bottles.
Examples are wine candle holder, flower vases, organizers, container for condiments and decorations for interior and
exterior art of the house.

REMEMBER
Recycling is one of the best solution to lessen problems on waste disposal, woods, plastics,
papers, metals and glasses are materials from trash that can e reused or recycled.
