ASSESSMENT 1: INDIVIDUAL ASSIGNMENT (30%)

Instructions:
(1) You are required to submit softcopies of this essay in PDF FORMAT and to be
submitted at the Class’s Google Classroom on or before the end of your class
on Week 5 before 5.00 pm. Late submissions will be penalized.

(2) Date of Release : Week 3

Due Date : Week 5

(3) Please submit the Assessment 1 together with a cover sheet which consists of
the following details:

a. Course name and code;

b. Student’s name and student’s number; and
c. Firm name and lecturer’s name.

(4) Students should use ARIAL (font) with the following specifications:

a. Text: 11 points
b. Name of cases: 11 points, bold
c. Provisions in legislation (sections/provisions from the relevant Acts): 11
points, bold
d. The text in the paper should be typed in one and half spacing (1.5). All
text must be justified left and right.

(5) You must not exceed 6 PAGES. The cover sheet will not be counted for this
purpose.

(6) The allocation for this assessment will be 30% of your ongoing assessment.
QUESTION

The legal profession ensures the observance of ethics by its all its members. This is
done by the institution of several bodies under the Legal Profession Act 1976.

Discuss the relevance and importance of the respective role of the following bodies
and how they can contribute in ensuring the quality, standard and professionalism of
persons who enter the legal profession. Consider as well the impact of these bodies
in the historical tapestry of the legal industry.

(a) the Legal Profession Qualifying Board (LPQB);
