Hadith literature is the most important field of study in Islamic studies after Quran. Hadith is an Arabic term which literally means statement, talks, conversation or communication. Generally, it is defined as, the narration of the words ()قول, deeds ()فعل, and speech ()تقرير performed by prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). So, since early times many Islamic scholars have collected the hadith citing authentic resources regarding the Qawaids or Usul Al Hadith throughout the world to save the prophetic tradition for the Muslim. Hadith is considered as the reference for Islamic jurisprudence after Quran. The six authentic (صحاح )الستةis considered as the most authentic hadith literature in Islam. Likewise, there are a lot of compilations in hadith literature performed by north Indian Islamic scholars as well. They have contributed in different languages as Faizul Bari of Anwar Shah Kashmiri and Nuzhatul Qari of Shariful Haque Amjadi etc.... are most famous in hadith literature. However, “Jamiul Ahadith” is one of the important works in hadith literature compiled into 10 volumes in Urdu language, attributed to the Indian polymath, Imam Ahmed Raza Khan. He was a great scholar, poet, philosopher, orator and above all, he was one of the great commentators on hadith literature in north India . So, the researcher on this topic aims to present the contribution of north Indian Islamic scholars to the people related to hadith literature specially performed in their native languages like Urdu. This paper also aims to explain a brief history of hadith literature focusing on The Jamiul Ahadith of Imam Ahmed Raza along with his brief historical figure.
