Control unit for emergency gensets
KEA 081 NSTR
Application
The control unit KEA 081 is
designed for the control of
stand-by sets. It contains
the same functions as the
KEA 071 NSTR, but does
not need the relay unit as
interface. The commands
(max. 35 volts DC, 1 amp.)
are given directly from the
unit. The functions of the
output relays and the relevant
parameters are to be set by
using a PC or notebook. To
the integrated optical fibre
connector a central control
system, an alarm extension
or the KUHSE Telemon re-
mote monitoring system may
be connected (a protocol
converter might be required).
The software for stand-by
operation covers:
− mains voltage failure sen-
sing,
− checking of preliminary
start conditions,
− starting of genset and
change-over from mains to

generator supply,
− frequency regulation for
island genset operation,
− genset monitoring and pro-
tection,
− sensing of mains voltage
return, reconnection to
mains supply and cooling
down/shutdown of genset.
To monitor the plant and the
genset, the control unit is
fitted with the following faci-
lities:
− 3-phase voltage sensors
for mains and generator,
monitoring under- and
overvoltage, under- and
overfrequency and correct
phase rotation,
− 14 externally connected
alarm signals,
− 4 internally connected
alarm signals each, for
mains and generator volta-
ge,
− DC battery voltage monitor.
