Dear Chesa,
1am delighted to offer you, subject to approval by the University, appointment as Executive
Director of the Criminal Justice Center at Berkeley Law, effective May 30, 2023,
Salary: Your formal employment classification is Academic Coordinator Il, Step 7, at 100% time, at
an annual fiscal year salary rate of $210,000.
Reporting: As Executive Director of the Criminal Justice Center you will report to the Dean of the
Law School.
Eunding of the Center: The Law School will commit $400,000 a year in funding to the Center for
‘each of the next three years (FY 2024, 2025, and 2026.) Additional funds that you raise will be
used exclusively for the Center, subject, of course, to campus and University of California rules
(eg, under campus rules there is a 7.5 percent tax on all gifts received and there are required
overhead charges on grants). It is expected that after three years, Centers should be financially self
sufficient and future Law School resources will be discussed at that time.
