Explored the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus: two parts. Part 1 (First FTC) shows that if f is continuous
over interval [a, b] then F(x) = ∫_a_^x f(t) dt is continuous on [a, b] and differentiable on (a, b), and F'(x) =
f(x). Part 2 (Second FTC) shows that ∫_a_^b f(x) dx = F(b) - F(a) for every x in [a, b], where F is any
antiderivative of f.
Learned several techniques for finding antiderivatives: power rule, substitution, parts, and partial
fractions.
Professor demonstrated examples of each technique and assigned practice problems to reinforce
understanding.
Noted upcoming quiz on Tuesday on all Integral Calculus topics: will include conceptual and
computational problems.
