W języku angielskim wyróŜniamy dwa przedimki - (nieokreślony - a/an oraz określony - the)
Przedimek nieokreślony a/an pochodzi od liczebnika one, dlatego uŜywa się go wyłącznie
z rzeczownikami policzalnymi w liczbie pojedynczej, gdy:
- mówimy, Ŝe coś lub ktoś ma jakąś cechę, lub naleŜy do pewnego typu, czy klasy osób lub
przedmiotów:
Nottingham is a historic town in the north of England.
She is a doctor.

Przedimek określony:
- chcemy zaznaczyć, Ŝe istnieje tylko jedna rzecz określonego typu lub osoba o określonej
funkcji:
In the skilled worker (robotnik wykwalifikowany).
