Avenue, Watford, WD18 7JX 1. Lay protective boarding over existing flat patio area to the rear of property with access to chimney stack to be removed and install access tower. Install staging platform at a safe working level to provide access to the gable valley. 2. Install platform to surround protruding stack between double gable valley and ensure all guarding, integral access ladders and outriggers are correctly installed and all wheels fully locked. 3. Install and securely anchor rubble chute onto platform to protect existing roof from damage while lowering brickwork to ground level. 4. Carefully remove, using hand tools, projecting section of chimney stack down to level of access towers working platform, clean bricks for reuse where possible, carefully transport and lower to ground level then stack for reuse. Bag up debris arising and carefully lower to ground level through rubble chute and dispose into on site skip. 5. Lower access tower working platform to enable next section of stack to be removed. Ensure all guarding, integral access ladders and outriggers are correctly installed and all wheels fully locked. 6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 until all of projecting section of breast is removed to below gable valley and into loft space. 7. Protect newly exposed roof section by installing weatherproof sheeting over platform. 8. Continue to carefully remove section of stack running through loft space and down into first floor rooms. Continually inspect structural elements with regards to other sections of the property including internal walls and roof supports. Install structural supports where necessary. 9. Once at floor level of first floor inspect area beneath and incorporate new supports for first floor where required. 10. Install acrow floor props on ground floor to support first level where required. 11. Continue to carefully remove section of stack running from first floor to ground level. Inspect structural elements with regards to internal, external walls and first floor supports. Install new supports as necessary and remove acrow floor props from ground level. 12. Brick up and make good any brickwork where required using reclaimed matching bricks and re-point as necessary using traditional methods. 13. Install damp proof membrane to ground floor flooring and level internal areas where flue has been removed 14. Close up and make good exposed section of roof using matching reclaimed hand-made clay tiles where required. 15. Carefully dismantle platform and remove from site. Replacing any damaged roof tiles. 16. Carefully dismantle access tower, remove from site and collect any outstanding debris and remove to onsite tip.
