COURSE DESCRIPTION

This program is expected to provide students with a basic understanding of how to


communicate in English (oral and written) related to the English context, especially in the
field of management and to understand reading materials related to business
management. This program also hopes that students can improve their understanding of
human resources, finance, marketing and operations as the four management functions
by mastering English for management.

INSTRUCTIONAL PURPOSES

The specific instructional objectives are as follows:


1. Students are able to communicate in English (orally and in writing) in business
contexts particularly Management and comprehend business & management-
related reading materials.
2. Students are able to improve their understanding of Human Resources, Finance,
Marketing and Operation as the four Management functions by mastering English
for Management subject.
3. Students are able to introduce themselves and introducing a colleague in their
offices.
4. Students are able to make and present information about companies.
5. Students are able to talk and discuss ideas about marketing.
6. Students are able to talk about their future plan, intention or job.
7. Students are able to talk about figures and numbers, understand about Investment
accounts.
8. Students are able to talk and discuss about international brands.
9. Students are able to comprehend a text about Successful team working and
discuss the questions.
10. Students are able to comprehend about ways of raising money.
11. tudents are able to comprehend about different types of business models and
management styles.
12. Students are able to talk and discuss about E-commerce and Selling Online.
13. Students are able to talk and describe about the future business and make
predictions.

LECTURING/LEARNING STRATEGY

1. Lectures are conducted in 16 (sixteen) Full Online meetings, namely 15 times


before UAS. There is no UTS in this course. The Final Semester Examination
(UAS) is held at the end of the lecture, namely in the 16th session.
2. Assistance Class (additional face-to-face lectures) is held at least 2 times face-to-
face through the Zoom / Google Meet application / etc., namely 1 time at the
beginning of the semester (week 2) and 1 time before UAS. UAS schedule can be
seen at SIA.
3. The subject matter of each meeting is arranged according to the attached
schedule. Students must download lecture material in each elearning period, in the
form of material in the form of words (doc), powerpoint (ppt) and also videos that
are shared in each lesson.
4. Students must actively participate in the Forum and work on the Quiz that is given
each week.
5. Students must work on forums, quizzes or download material at a predetermined
time or online period. If students work outside the predetermined time period,
attendance will not be checked which results in absent attendance in that period.
6. Every student must participate actively in every online session both with lecturers
and fellow students. For students who download material early, respond to forums
or collect quizzes, this will become a credit point for the student concerned.
7. Students are required to take the Final Semester Examination by first being
registered as test participants.
8. Minimum attendance for face-to-face lectures is 75 percent of the 16 lecture
meetings.

ASSIGNMENT

1. Weekly assignments are given in written or oral form to be done by students


independently or in groups.
2. Major Assignment 1 is done as a substitute for the Middle Semester Exam (UTS)
and Major Assignment 2 is done before the Final Semester Exam (UAS).
