In the past, horses come in different colors,
shapes, and sizes. Dog-sized horses exist along
with tall and larger species. Today, horses have
long, slender legs and large teeth.

Research Question
How did horses change over time?
Objective
The purpose of this research poster is to show
how horses change over time, through images
and descriptions of their ancestors. It also aims
to note how the modern horse benefit from
these changes.
Evidence / Findings
Observations
MODERN HORSE
Their height helped them see predators.
Their large single toes or hooves helped
them run swiftly and escape predators.
Their molars allowed them to grind
grasses and seeds.
EARLY ANCESTORS OF HORSES
Early ancestors of horses were
small and had four long toes. Their
teeth also indicated that they ate
soft leaves.
They became taller over time and
developed a single large toe that
became a hoof. Their molars also
became longer and covered with
hard cement.
Conclusion
Horses evolved to become taller,
have hooves, and have longer
molars to survive.
