Type Approval Updates

1. UAE
Ultra-Wide Band and Short-Range Devices V4.0 was published by UAE TRA. UAE TRA also designated
an additional 500 MHz radio spectrum of 6 GHz band (specifically 5925-6425 MHz) to Wi-Fi for indoor
use at an EIRP of 250 mW under class authorization.

2. Syria
SY-TPRA no longer accepts test reports depending on IEC 60950-1/ IEC 60065. Products which were
previously tested according to IEC 60950-1/ IEC 60065 will need to comply with the new IEC-62368
standard.

3. Egypt
The National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA) of Egypt issued updated Short-range Devices (SRD)
Radio Spectrum Guidelines in December 2020. The Guidelines layout rules for using SRDs in Egypt,
and also technical controls that must be followed when operating SRDs in Egypt.

4. Morocco
The Moroccan authorities announced officially that the tolerance period for products subjected to
verification in country of export will end on 1 January 2021. All industrial products subject to
verification on conformity in the country of export will be required to present a certificate of
conformity from an accredited body in order to get a clearance at destination.

5. Sierra Leone
National Telecommunications Commission (NATCOM) published new Type Approval Regulations.
I. Radio-communication Equipment operating in GSM frequency bands are prohibited for
import or sale in Sierra Leone, except Cellular Mobile Phones or other approved by NATCOM.
II. Applicants shall submit copies of the ISO/IEC 17025 certificate of the accredited laboratory
with their application.
III. NATCOM in certain application for type approval certificates cases may request a sample to
be attached in the application.
IV. Every supplier, importer, distributor or seller shall, where applicable, ensure that equipment
offered for sale or for private use is clearly affixed with the type approval label containing the
following:
a. the logo of the NATCOM;
b. the type of the equipment;
c. the alphanumeric identifications.
