2 – Safety measures
2.1 – Safety measures for the functioning
All units are manufactured following the latest technical standards in safety
matters. In any case, their use can be dangerous, if they are not correctly used
by untrained personnel or if they work differently from the projected aims.
9 The radiological equipment must be used for medical diagnostic aims and only by qualified
personnel, who exactly knows the risks coming from the use of units which emit ionized radiations:
the personnel must be able to adopt the necessary protection measures.
9 Instructions and rules concerning this kind of equipment that are in force in a country must be
respected by the operator and by the installer.
9 The unit must work only in rooms, which are used for medical aims (refer to regulations in force).
9 The unit is not planned to be used in rooms which are at explosions risk.
9 As for the mounting, functioning, use and maintenance of the unit, every person’s duties must be
clearly established and respected. This way, from a safety point of view, there are no doubts about
duties subdivision.
9 It’s necessary that the person, who is responsible of the equipment, constantly supervises that the
unit is working in maximum safety conditions. Rooms must be tidy and clean, and the space at
personnel’s disposal must be enough to guarantee people’s free and safe movements.
9 The user must keep the working area around the unit clean and free from substances which could
provoke sliding.
For the unit use the local rules about safety and accidents prevention are in any case valid, as the safety
instruction listed in this manual.

ATTENTION!!!
Follow the instructions written in the Technical Manual that comes with the
equipment, to know about the types of intervention.
Do not change any part of the unit; changes which are not authorized can
compromise the equipment functioning and safety. They void the manufacturer’s
guarantee as well.
In particular, it is not possible to make inoperative or replace devices and/or
circuits which permit the radiations emission in accordance with the safety laws.
The unit mobile parts movement must be carefully done in order to avoid
collision risks and / or damages to people in the examination room or to the unit
functional integrity.
The unit can not be subjected to damaging stresses, such as the violent stop of
the mobile parts on the end of travel bumpers, the excessive torsion of the
electrical function cables, the forced movements of the unit without releasing the
brakes, etc.
Warnings!!!
All patient’s parts which are at risk, must be always protected by additional
shielding devices according to the radiation safety law.

Operator manual
4 - Use
Before using the unit, the operator should read carefully the chapters of this
manual about the SAFETY MEASURES (Chapter 2) and the INSTRUCTIONS OF
USE (Chapter 4).
The numbers in this text are referring to the illustrations enclosed in this manual
and their meaning is the following: 21.03 = part 21 of the picture 3.
When the brakes are in an unblocked position, the carriage tends to lift upward
with the bucky. This balancing helps the user to position vertically the bucky and
to take into consideration the possible use of accessories such as an external
cassette holder.
With unblocked brake, no cassette in the bucky and/or additional accessories, it
is necessary to accompany the bucky along its vertical movement and to avoid
violent collisions against the upper end of travel bumper.
The tilting action of the bucky is by manual control and is balanced by a counterweight sytem. The standard
positions of work are identified by mechanical detents (-20°, vertical at 0° and horizontal at 90°).
The movement can be effected after releasing the control knob, that is located laterally at the side of the
sliding support assembly, counterclockwise (the control knob can be placed at either left or right of the
stand). (4.1)
The moving of the equipment mobile parts must be carefully done to avoid
collision risks and/or injury to people or equipment in the examination room.
The unit must not be subjected to dangerous stresses, such as: the violent stop of
the mobile parts on the end of travel bumper; the movements forcing without the
brakes unlocking; ect.

4.3 - Bucky
The following indications are valid for bucky models of more common use. For buckys with cassette sensing
device and/or automatic cassette loading, refer the use instructions issued with them.
In the bucky and in the cassette tray there are metal protrusions and pinch points
that can cause damages to the user’s hands. So use only the proper handle to
pull out and insert the cassette tray from the bucky.
The cassettes are kept in the cassette tray and centered horizontally through a couple of jaws with an auto-
centering movement.
In some cassette trays there are housings also for the 40 cm format and to stop the cassettes of 35 and 43 cm
size, that are placed upward.
The cassette can be vertically centered and stopped through a proper device (6.2), which permits the moving
and the inserting in the housings that are in the cassette tray.
In the cassette tray there are six housings, that correspond to cassette sizes of 13, 18, 24, 30, 35 and 43 cm.
The cassette can be loaded in the bucky both from the left side and the right one; the loading side is set
during the installation phase.
To load the cassette, do as follows:
9 using the proper handle (4.2), pull out, until its stop position, the cassette tray from the bucky;
9 rotate clockwise the lever that unlocks the jaws (3.2),, which block the cassette (2.2);
9 open the jaws (2.2) enough to permit the inserting of the cassette in use (5.2),;
9 position the device or the cassette vertical stop in the housing (6.2) in correspondence with the
vertical side dimension of the cassette in use (5.2);
9 insert the cassette in the jaws, leaning it on the vertical stop (6.2);
9 rest the jaws (2.2) against the cassette;
9 rotate clockwise the lever (3.2) to lock the jaws (2.2);
9 insert again deeply the cassette tray (7.2) in the bucky (8.2), using the proper handle (4.2).

Operator manual
5 - Maintenance.
The equipment includes mechanical and electrical parts, which need to be regularly subjected to checks and
maintenance in order to guarantee a unit efficient and enduring working.
As suggested by the manufacturer, the main controls typology and frequency to do regularly are listed below.
The user, that means the person who is responsible of the equipment, must ask
for the technical support at the foreseen dates and hold all the unit
documentation, that means this manual and the technical one.
The user must always addressed to the technical personnel for the equipment
maintenance and repairing; these operations must never be done by the user.
Subject to agreement with our administration department, we are at full disposal to supply the necessary
technical support.
9 A general check of the unit and its functioning conditions must be done at intervals no longer then
12 months. More frequent controls must be done if the unit is subjected to heavy use or in case of
restarting after a long stop.
9 Changes, up-dating and extraordinary maintenance must be done by the manufacturer or technical
personnel authorized by him.
9 Every ordinary and extraordinary operation on the equipment must be supported by documents;
these must be findable.
