C. Establishing a purpose for the lesson

The teacher will present the 2-weather forecast and student will answer the following
questions.

Questions:
1. What did you observe on both weather forecast?
2. What are those numbers in weather forecast?
D. Presenting examples/instances of the new lesson
Unlocking of technical terms:
Celsius – The Celsius (°C) temperature scale is standard in virtually all countries that
have adopted the metric system of measurement, and it is widely used in the sciences.
Fahrenheit – The Fahrenheit (°F) temperature scale is used in the United States and a
few other English-speaking countries.
Kelvin – The Kelvin (K) scale, an absolute temperature scale (obtained by shifting the
Celsius scale by −273.15° so that absolute zero coincides with 0 K), is recognized as the
international standard for scientific temperature measurement.

E. Discussing new concepts and practicing new skills

WHAT IS TEMPERATURE?

Temperature is the measure of hotness or coldness expressed in terms of any of

several scales, including Fahrenheit, Celsius and Kelvin.

TEMPERATURE CONVERSION FORMULA

Celsius to Fahrenheit:

Fahrenheit to Celsius:

Kelvin to Celsius:
Celsius to Kelvin:
Fahrenheit to Kelvin:
Examples:

1. Convert 120 °C to °F?

9
Step 1: °F = °C + 32 (Write the formula)
5

Step 2: °F = ( 9⁄5 x 120°) + 32 (Substitute the given to the formula)

Step 3: °F = (1.8 x 120) + 32 (Convert first the fraction to the decimal

number then multiply to the given Celsius)

Step 4: °F = 216 + 32 (then addition)

Step 5: °F = 248 (Final answer)

2. Convert 167 °F to °C?

5
Step 1: °C = (°F – 32) (Write the formula)
9
5
Step 2: °C = (167 – 32) (Substitute the given to the formula)
9
5
Step 3: °C = x 135° (then subtract)
9
(Convert first the fraction to the decimal
Step 4: °C = 0.56 x 135
number then multiply to the given Fahrenheit)
Step 5: °C = 75.6 (Final answer)

3. Convert 26 °C to K?

Step 1: K = °C + 273.15

Step 2: K = 26 + 273.15

Step 3: K = 299.15 K

4. Convert 146 °F to °C?

5
Step 1: °C = (°F – 32)
9
5
Step 2: °C = (146– 32)
9
5
Step 3: °C = x 114
9
Step 4: °C = 0.56 x 114

Step 5: °C = 63.84
F. Developing mastery
“GROUP ACTIVITY”
Instructions:
1. The class divided into 3 groups.
2. Each group will answer the following temperature conversion.
3. One of the members of the group will present their work in the class.

Group 1 Group 2 Group 3

1. Convert 134 °C to °F? 1. Convert 254 °F to °C? 1. Convert 64 °C to K?

2. Convert 23 °C to K? 2. Convert 15 °C to °F? 2. Convert 122 °F to °C?

G. Finding practical applications of concepts and skills in daily living

The teacher will ask the students about the purpose of acquiring skills in
conversion of temperature.
• Why it is important to know the conversion of temperature?

H. Making generalization and abstractions about the lesson

The learners will summarize the discussion by answering the following question.
1. What are the temperature conversion formulas?
2. Why do we convert temperature?

I. Evaluating learning
Learners will answer the evaluation through the Google forms (See Attachment)
RWo/edit?usp=sharing)

J. Additional activities for application or remediation
