Rules
1. Short adjectives
Adjectives with one syllable

Adjective + er

Short = Shorter
Fast = Faster
The rabbit is faster than the
turtle.
2. Adjectives with one syllable

Consonant + vowel + consonant

Adjective + dobble consonant + er

Big = Bigger
Hot = Hotter
Paris is bigger than Salento.
Salento isn’t bigger than Paris.
3. Adjectives Adjective + ier
that finish in
“Y” = Change
“y” per “i” and Happy = Happier
add “er”
Ugly = Uglier
The elephant is happier
than the chicken.
4. Long adjectives
More + adjective

Beautiful = more beautiful


Interesting = more interesting
Victoria is more interesting
than Ana.
5. Exceptions
Good = Better

Bad = Worse

Far = Farther / further


•Paula is better
Singer than Sonia.

•This place is worse


than another place
to visit.

•The red house is
